Seven years have passed since Zelda disappeared, yet the sting of the loss is still strong with Malon, who hasn't touched her best friend's things for years, leaving it exactly where it was. Impa was never there at night, always riding off at sunset and returning before dawn.
"Dear Goddesses, I ask of you to bless this rally today, look after my fellow sages, and watch over Zelda, if she is still alive and to be found. Also, may we find our sage of Light soon. In the name of the Triforce, I thank you." An armour clad Malon said, kneeling and praying to the Goddesses; Din, Farore, Nayru and Hylia.
"Mal, we have to go!" An equally armoured Nabooru smiled, dragging Malon out of the house and on to the back of Étaín, Epona's sister, a fine mare with a neatly brushed mane. Malon liked to clean the horses when she was stressed.
"Ganon has oppressed this beautiful land and the people on it! Hyrule is our land, our home! We will not stand for this usurper ruling our home and telling us what to do!" Malon yelled, inspiring many.
"The once beautiful Zora's Domain is polluted and desecrated thanks to Ganon! We will not stand for this!" Malon yelled in the square, in front of hundreds who cheered in agreement.
Darkness filled the square.
"Get out of here, now!" Ruto yelled and the party scattered, dispersing into their homes. The Sages fled on horseback, galloping straight to Lon Lon Ranch.
Majora was staring at the now empty square, knowing why they left but not where. She called forth her shadows to search for the rebels, and they dispersed, searching far and wide for the people who flocked regularly to hear Malon spout the lost Princess' word.
Meanwhile, Malon returned home in her usual empty sorrow and just went to lay on her bed, when there was someone sitting in Zelda's chair.
"What are you doing in Zelda's chair? Get out!" Malon yelled, furious at the stranger in the chair.
"Where is your friend, if it's her chair?" He challenged, still not rising from the chair.
"She disappeared years ago, almost seven years to the day."
"I'm sorry."
"Hello sorry, I'm Impa." The Sheikah woman smiled as she entered the room. "Mal, I see you've met my son, Sheik.
"Son?!" Malon asked, confused.
"I found him half-starved at Lake Hylia, under the somewhat watchful eye of Dr Mizumi and since he's a Sheikah, I thought it best to train him in secret."
"Oh, so YOU'RE the triple agent." Malon said, in realisation.
"The one and only." Sheik smirked, rising from the chair and sinking deep into a bow.
"There's a council meeting in the war room now, you two, now hurry up!" Impa said, ushering the two out.
The group went to the underground secret war room, where everyone else was gathered, ready.
"We have found the sage of light, she is a Twili named Midna, we must go and place the last part of the Mirror of Twilight so she may come through." Impa said, explaining the situation. "Sheik, tell them that we've found the sage, but say it's someone else, it's your choice to pick."
"I understand, mother." Sheik said, bowed and left.
A messenger knocked on the front door.
"Yes?" Sheik asked, glaring at the poor creature with his red eyes.
"Missives from the Zora's Domain. I was asked to give this straight to her highness of the Zora, long may she live." The scared creature stammered, grabbing a scroll bound by seaweed, which the Sheikah took.
"You may go." Sheik said, dismissing the creature, who fled.
Sheik ran downstairs.
"Ruto, missives from your home." Sheik said, giving the Zora the letter.
"Thank you." Ruto smiled, opening the letter.
It read:
"To Her Highness, Ruto Yvain Zora, Seventh of her name, carer of the great Jabu Jabu, heir to the Coral Throne, daughter of King Zora CXVI, sage of water and descendant of the Great Sage Ruto, late queen of the Zora.I write with grave tidings and a heavy heart. Ganondorf launched an attack on our home and your brave father gave his life for your secrecy and our safety.
If it isn't too dangerous for either party, he wished for you to come for the funeral and a coronation. if not, we pre made an effigy so you can carry a funeral out yourself.
The funeral will be held tomorrow, the 26th, when the sun is at it's peak, if this letter arrives on time.
I pray that you are well and safe.
Farewell, your majesty,
Lady Bysse of the Zora, daughter of Alom."
Ruto stood there, frozen in shock.
"Ru, what is it?"
"My father, Ganon killed him. The funeral's tomorrow."
