Today was the day, Alec's 19th birthday and the day he was finally going to come clean to everyone about being gay and being in a relationship with Magnus. Alec awoke in his bed in the institute feeling nervous and anxious, Magnus woke up on the sofa in his Brooklyn loft feeling excited for the day to come. Alec lazily rose up out of bed and walked to the institute kitchen to find his mum preparing breakfast. She came over and gave Alec a kiss on the cheek.

"Happy birthday son, I'm making your favourite for breakfast, pancakes!" she cheered happily. Alec managed the happiest smile he could.

"Thanks mum." he said lovingly. Alec sat down at the table and his mum brought over to him a plate of 19 pancakes, Alec was surprised.

"It's your age in pancakes, it was my idea, oh and happy birthday!" Said Max happily who was standing by the fridge.

"Thank you Max." Alec said whilst smiling happily at his little brother.

"Happy birthday Alec son!" said Robert as he gave Alec a pat on the back before heading to his office. Alec didn't even have a chance to say thank you. There was suddenly a loud racket coming from under the table, Isabelle popped up ungraciously for once.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY BIG BRO!" she shouted at the top of her voice.

"Thanks Iz!" Alec told her whilst giving her a hug. Jace walked lazily into the kitchen with Clary, he had one arm draped around her shoulder and they both looked as if they hadn't slept.

"Happy birthday Alec!" they both said happily, Clary gave Alec a warm hug whilst Jace opted for a pat on the back.

"Alec you need to go and get ready as the party starts in a few hours." Maryse told him. Alec finished all 19 of his pancakes and then left to go and get ready. After a refreshing and awakening shower Alec started to work on his hair. He done it the way Magnus likes it, with glitter in it. He then pulled out his new suit that Iz had got him for today and slowly started to get dressed. Max came in looking dashing in a mini tux.

"C'mon Alec it's party time!" he shouted as he grabbed Alec by the hand and ran to the great hall with him. The hall was already packed with many shadowhunter family's, there were even a few warlocks and werewolves. Simon came over looking as casual as ever in a gamer shirt and a pair of jeans, he smiled.

"Happy birthday Alec." he said before being dragged off to the dance floor by izzy who looked simply amazing in her short glittery black dress and humongous black heels. Alec spotted Magnus over in the corner talking to Luke. Alec walked over slowly to Magnus, Magnus' face lit up when he saw Alec.

"Well if it isn't the birthday boy, happy birthday my dear Alexander Gideon Lightwood." Magnus said softly.

"Happy birthday Alec." Luke said before waving and walking off to see Clary who was with Jace. Alec gently took hold of Magnus' hand. Suddenly there was a loud booming noise.

"Thank you everyone for coming here to celebrate the 19th birthday of my eldest child, Alexander Gideon Lightwood, he will now come up to make a short speech." Maryse declared into the microphone.

"It's time."Alec whispered to Magnus before clambering up the stage to the microphone. The whole crowdturned to look at Alec who grew awkward under their intense gazes.

"Umm... hi everyone... I have something to tell everyone! I am..." Alec stuttered awkwardly, he looked at Magnus who smiled reassuringly.

"I'm gay and I'm dating Magnus Bane High Warlock of Brooklyn!" Alec announced proudly. Magnus joined Alec onstage and they shared a loving kiss, to their surprise people started to clap. Half of the crowd look like they already knew Alec was gay whereas the other half were shocked but most shocked were Alec's parents, mainly his father.
