Thunderstorm

40 1 1

The thunder roars
Rain pours
Echoing with emphasis
And I, alone, am here to witness
My lamp and I
Here in darkness
My light and I
Are here to listen

I miss you
I mean to say that
If you were here
Curled up next to me, or burrowed
Underneath my left arm
Right where my heart is
I would feel so much less torn
And so much more complete

While you've taught me so much about myself
I still don't understand
Why electric blue sparks
And loud noises that follow
And water violently flying from the sky
Make me feel so calm

And you are a storm
I can't understand why
You, you in particular
Bring out my purest and happiness state of existence
Out of all the people in the world
You
With all your lightning
Rain
And thunder

You are truly a glorious thunderstorm
The most magnificent one I've ever witnessed
On a dark night
With a small, yellow light
There to listen

All because that's how much I miss you.
