CH7-The Almost Accident

Elizabeth's POV

I'm walking out to my truck parked behind Bella's when I hear someone calling my name. I turn around and see Bella walking up behind me. "Hey," I say to her in a monotone voice. "Hey." She says in a nervous voice.

We make our way by her truck and start talking. "Listen, Liz, I'm sorry I've been really distant these last few days. It's just I'm trying to branch out and make new friends and be sociable." "So am I, but it seems like my friends are too 'weird' for you." "No that's not it Liz. I just don't like Edward. Jasper seems nice from what you tell me about him though."

I look behind Bella to see Jasper and Edward looking intently at us like they're trying to listen in on our conversation.

Which is impossible considering they're across the lot.

Jasper looks intently into my eyes.

Suddenly we hear screeching of tires and we look up at the last minute to see a van speeding towards us.

Bella pushes me out of the way and all of a sudden I'm being carried and in the blink of an eye, I'm in the forest.

I look at who's holding me and it's Jasper.

My eyes widen in realization.

Jasper's POV

Edward and I walk down the stairs and to his car right next to the stairs and the front doors. I look over at El and notice that she looks irritated talking to Bella. Edward and I share a look then start listening in on what they're talking about.

Suddenly we hear high pitched screeching.

We both turn our attention away from the girls and look to the sound. Tyler's van came speeding into view. He can't stop and he is headed to the girls.

I'm the first to act.

I run up to their cars just as Bella pushes Elizabeth out of the way. I grab her and run to the forest outlining the school property. I stop in a clearing and set her down.

Elizabeth's POV

Jasper gently puts me down on the ground so I'm standing facing him with his arms still around my body.

"How the hell did you do that?" I ask, my voice dripping with confusion and a little anger.

"Don't get mad, please?" He pleads.

I nod a little hesitant.

"I'm a vampire. I won't hurt you and yes the rest of my family are vampires too. I understand if you want nothing to do with me although I'd be very hurt because you're my mate, but I'd still understand and respect your decision." Then he looks down, finding the forest floor much more interesting.

I'm a little shocked, but I don't want to lose him.

Truth is, I'm starting to fall in love with him and I don't think that I would be able to live without him in my life.

I take my hand and put it under his chin, gently lifting his head to look at me. "I don't believe you would ever hurt me. I like you and your family. I wouldn't want to be apart from you. I'm glad I'm your mate because I imagine loving anyone else the way I can feel myself starting to love you."

I lean upward and he leans down and we share a slow and passionate kiss. What feels like an eternity later, we slowly pull apart and lean our foreheads against each other. We stay like that for a while then we hear ambulance sirens and I then know we aren't that far from the school.

I feel like I'm forgetting something.....

BELLA!

I snap out of my trance and say in a panicky voice, "I have to get to my sister."
