"Yesterday was the most horrible day ever," I said, talking to Farah on the phone.
"I'm sure it wasn't that bad," Farah said.
"My dad came back on my birthday. "
"Ohh. After all these years? Okay, that's bad." " You wanna come over and talk about it?" Farah asked.
"Sure."
I ended the phone call and got out of my bed to change out of my Pikachu pajamas. I opened my closet and picked out an outfit. It was a dark blue shirt that says "Fresh" on it and some black pants. I grabbed my jacket and left. Farah's house is three blocks from mine, so I walked. Farah is my cousin, we've been together ever since we were little. She's like my best friend, only we're cousins. Farah is always there for me when I'm in the blues, or when I need to complain about my day, or anything. Farah is a year younger than me, but she's very smart. So, she skipped a grade and now she has some classes with me at school."So, you said that yesterday was the worst day ever because your dad came back to see you?" Farah asked.
"Yes." I respond.
"And you want me to make it all better?"
"If you can, yes."
"Of course. It is my job to do so," Farah said. "I'll be right back," Farah said as she left the room. Five minutes later, she came in with a mini birthday cake, snacks, and some drinks.
"Oh, Farah. You didn't have to. I mean, I'm only 16, I don't need to celebrate my birthday anymore." I said.
"Oh, come on. Its the least thing I can do and who doesn't celebrate their sweet sixteen. And besides, you went to all of my birthday parties and now I'm celebrating yours," she said as she put everything on her desk. She jumped on the bed and patted her legs, meaning that I could lay my head on them, so I did. I started talking. I talked about how it went with my dad and what I did for my birthday. We drank a few pops together and talked about life and laughed a lot. After that, Farah lit the candles on my cake and sang the birthday song. I blew out the candles.
"Thanks, Farah."
"No problem."
A few hours, I decided to leave because it was getting late and my mom was probably worried. I was walking slowly down the street, thinking about the conversation I had with my dad last night. "Are you going to walk away from all your problems?" "I can't believe he said that," I thought. Then I stopped, I was so confused and lost in thought. "Yes, I still hate him. He should have never done what he did ...but, I want... to forgive him?" I thought, back and fourth.
I finally got home. I stepped on the porch and stopped once I put the key inside the doorknob. I heard laughing and the tv playing. "It's probably just my mom watching her favorite tv show again," I thought. I walked inside and closed the door. I didn't want to say that "I'm home" cause my mom would probably get mad at me if I interrupted her show. I tiptoed to the door way of the living room. Once I looked in the living room, I saw my mom cuddling under my dad's arm. I froze.
Ha, cliffhangers. :3
