Varian spent 2 months checking and checking over Y/N. He made sure their wasn't even a slight scratch on her.

Quirin eventually forced Varian to let Y/N go to their house. She had forgotten where she lived, but knew she was an orphan.

Varian begged her dad to let her sleep in his room. "Please Dad! Please! Please! PLEASE!!!"

"Why?" Asked Quirin.

"Because then I can have a sleepover everyday! I don't have many friends dad! And now, I can have one who I get to share a room with! Someone to talk to other than a raccoon".

A small, baby raccoon emerged from the kitchen, tilting his head in curiosity and sadness.

"Not that I don't love talking to Rudiger", Varian quickly said.

The baby raccoon jumped into Varian's arms and nuzzled him.

"What's a sleepover?" Asked Y/N.

Varian gasped.

"She doesn't know what a sleepover is!"

Quirin chuckled.

"We don't have a bed for her, she can't sleep on the fl..."

"I'll make one!" Varian shouted. He ran out the house, leaving Quirin confused and worried.

Y/N felt safe around Varian. He had dropped everything for her, a complete stranger. He had given up an entire year for her, working tirelessly to heal her.

She owed her life to Varian and Quirin.

She gave a small little wave goodbye and ran after the excitable six year old.

Varian was mixing his strange chemicals together to create some kind of mixture to cut down the tree.

"Oh, hi Y/N! Don't mind me. I'm just gonna try and cut down this tree", Varian said, as if there was nothing wrong with cutting a tree.

"Why not use an axe or a blowtorch? Surely an alchemist would have a blowtorch at least. And your dad would probably have an axe for cutting trees; he seems like that kind of man", said Y/N.

Varian shrugged sheepishly.

"My dad took my blowtorch away after I tried to make a device that could use cold air to refrigerate our food without the use of salt, but I missed the metal and lit the blacksmith on fire. And my dad would never give me an axe. Hey, anyways, how did you know I was an alchemist?" Varian asked.

"There's cinnabar and lapis solaris on your tray. Those are alchemical substances", Y/N said placidly.

Varian stood there, gobsmacked. (Yes, I'm British)

"W...W...Wow. You're really clever. And pretty." Varian stuttered.

"What was that last part?" Y/N teased. A smirk came on her face as Varian blushed.

"I've never seen you properly smile", said Varian. The two six year olds stood there, staring at each other for a good minute.

Varian than shook his head, as though coming out of trance, and began to make a substance that could burn the wood.

"Now, where did I put that can of oxygen..."

"Are you trying to use the fire triangle method. That's a terrible idea for two reasons. 1. You couldn't control the fire and would just burn the tree to ashes. 2. You have no heat. You only have oxygen and a fuel: the wood".

Once again, Varian stood there, mouth agape.

"How is it that you can't remember your actual name, but you can remember things that I should know better than my abcs".

Y/N shrugged.

"Alright then, Miss know it all," Varian said, hands on hips (Sassy Varian) "How would you do it".

Y/N sensed a challenge, and she was going to win it. She clicked her knuckles and twisted her head, ready.

"Well, let us see now, if you were a true alchemist, then you would have ammonium chloride. Yes you do. Now what else. Now I need to make heat".

"You said fire was a bad idea. Someone's hypocritical", said Varian, believing to have won.

"It's not for the tree, dummy. It's for the ammonium chloride. Anyways, now I need sulphuric acid. There it is, and potassium permanganate.  Now, let's get them to react"!

Y/N made the sulphuric acid and potassium permanganate react, creating a whole new substance.

"I've now made manganese oxide 7, which can ignite, where is it, where is it... aha! Acetone!"

She mixed the manganese oxide 7 to ignite acetone and then contained it in a small beaker with a pile of sticks keeping it going.

She then grabbed another beaker from Varian's tray and placed the ammonium chloride inside.

She held that beaker above the small fire, and sure enough, the reaction she wanted happened.

She then watched as the ammonia gas diffused into the atmosphere, and she was left with hydrochloric acid.

"Oh. My. God. You're the best human I've ever met. I'd say thing but Rudiger might get jealous." Varian basically screamed.

He ran in to hug Y/N.

"What are you doing?" Y/N asked.

"Hugging you!"

"I've never been hugged before"

"Really! You poor thing. Well, I, Varian! Will give you the greatest first hug ever!"

And he did.

Y/N smiled warmly. After the hug, she looked for an acid proof pipette to suck up the acid with.

She the traced a circle around the base of the tree, making the acid burn through the bark and tree. The tree collapsed to the forest floor.

Y/N then traced another circle of acid along the other end of the tree, getting rid of the leaves and small branches.

Varian and Y/N worked hard to carry the tree trunk all the way back to Varian's lab, but they finally managed it.

"Now, you may have done that, but now it's my turn to do some impressive work. Making a bed!"'Varian should triumphantly.

Y/N sat on one of his desks, swinging her legs back and forth and watching intently.

"Oh, haha, I just realised. I do have a saw. Not an axe, but a saw".

Y/N burst out laughing.

Varian loved her laugh.

"Oh well, time to make a bed".
