Flynn slowly began to climb down the massive tower with two arrows. He stabbed them into the hard limestone, securing them in place.
"You coming Blondie?! Embers?!"
"It's Y/N!" Replied Y/N, irritably. Rapunzel had pulled her hair round pole that jutted out the tower, making a makeshift pulley system. She held on tight and looked at the large drop below her. Y/N wasn't afraid of much, except water, so she waited patiently for Rapunzel to go, unshaken by the massive drop below.
"Look at the world, so close, and I'm halfway to it" Rapunzel sang.
"Uh, why are you singing?" Y/N asked.
"Look at it, all so big. Do I even dare?"
"Rapunzel? This isn't normal!"
"Look at me, here at last! I just have to do it! Should I? No! Here I go". Rapunzel grips onto her hair, jumps and slides down it, laughing happily as she went. Y/N smiled, before following after her. She decided to show off a bit, by only holding on by her legs as she slides. She gave Flynn a little smile and a wave as she passed him, before stopping just above the ground. Rapunzel was off in her own world, freaking out about finally being outside.
"Just smell the grass, the dirt! Just like I'd dreamed they'd be! Just feel that summer breeze, the way it's calling me!" Flynn had finally gotten to the ground, and stood confused as Rapunzel rolled on the ground and sang.
"I don't get it either", Y/N said, one eyebrow raised. Rapunzel has just stepped into some water, and somehow that was amazing too?!
"And for like the first time ever, I'm completely free! I could go running and racing!"
"Rapunzel wait! Don't go without us!" Y/N yelled.
"Or dancing, or chasing. Or leaping, or bounding, hair flying or heart pounding! Splashing and reeling and finally feeling! That's when my life. Begins!"
"You done, Rapunzel?" Y/N sighed. She'd never seen someone so happy about being on the ground. How long had she been in that tower?
"I can't believe I did this! I can't believe I did this. I CAN'T BELIVE I DID THIS!!! Mother will be so furious!" Rapunzel began having more mood swings and contradictions then any human would hope to have. Y/N sighed and watched as she went from happy as could be, to as miserable as Eeyore. Rapunzel finally stopped, sat and cried into her lap.
"You know, I can't help but notice, you seem a bit at war with yourself here", Flynn said, kneeling beside her.
"What?" Rapunzel replied.
"I'm just picking up bits and pieces. Course, overprotective mother, forbidden road trip. This is serious stuff!"
What is he playing at? Thought Y/N.
"But let me ease your conscience. This is part of growing up. A little rebellion, a little adventure, that's good, healthy, even". He went on.
"You think?" Rapunzel asked.
"I know! You're way overthinking this! Does your mother deserve it? No. Will it break her heart and crush her soul? Of course! But you just got to do it!"
"Break her heart?" Rapunzel asked, shocked.
"In half."
"Crush her soul?"
"Like a grape."
Ah! I see what he's doing! Playing on Rapunzel's emotions so he gets his stupid satchel back without going to Corona! Sneaky b******. Thought Y/N. (We do not swear in this Christian fan fiction).
"She would be heartbroken, you're right!" Rapunzel cried.
"I am right, aren't I? Oh bother. You know what? I'm letting you out the deal."
"What?" Rapunzel and Y/N said in unison.
"That's right! But don't thank me! Let's just turn around, get you home, I get back my satchel, you get back a healthy mother-daughter relationship based on mutual trust and voila! We part ways as unlikely friends!"
"I don't think so, Rider!" Y/N yelled, bringing out a fireball in her hand.
"In case you forgot, Rapunzel's dream is to see these lights! And not only that, but I need to get to Corona too, so I can see what it's like out there, and possibly find a clue to where I truly come from! So you will not be letting us out of the deal!" Y/N shouted. She brought the fire right up to Flynn's neck, at created a mini dagger shape with it, pointing it up at him. He gulped, nervously.
"Oh come on! What's it gonna take to get my satchel back!" Flynn bellowed.
"I will use this", Rapunzel said, readying her frying pan. Suddenly, a rustling came from the bushes behind them. Rapunzel leapt onto Flynn's back and held on for dear life.
"Is it ruffians? Thugs? Have they come for me?!" She asked, scared.
"Are you some kind of narcissistic scaredy cat? Not everything in the world is about you! It's just a bunny!" Y/N said, kicking the bush to make the bunny come out.
"Oh! Sorry! Guess I'm a little jumpy!" Rapunzel apologised.
"Probably wanna watch out for ruffians and thugs though". Flynn said, thinking.
"Yeah, that'd be for the best!"
"Are you guys hungry?! I know a great place for lunch!" Flynn shouted, excitedly.
"Really, where?"
"Oh don't you worry! You'll know it when you smell it!"
