Binagsak ko ang phone ko sa table at napasabunot sa buhok ko. Damn. Where the hell is Eleanor? After our last encounter with her friend Claire, I wasn't able to contact her. She won't even reply to my texts. She's out of coverage everytime I call her. Nasan ba siyang lupalop ng mundo? Wala naman siguro siya sa gubat.
"Claire." I called my secretary. Then I remembered Eleanor's friend whose name was also Claire. Then I remembered the things I said to Eleanor. Maybe she was offended. But damn, I'm just saying what I wanted to say.
"Sir?" Claire was looking at me expectantly while holding her planner.
I inhaled sharply, "Call Mr. Gonzales. Ask him the whereabouts of his daughter."
"Are we still talking about Miss Eleanor Kai?"
"Of course, Claire. Siya lang naman ang anak ni Mr. Gonzales na interesado ako." I snorted. Claire nodded vigorously before doing her task. I leaned back on my chair. I was trying so hard not to lose my temper. I may be moody but I don't lose temper that easy. I have learned how always keep my cool because being hot-headed won't take you that far.
But I didn't know if I should be mad or frustrated at the same time. Ang gulo naman kasi ni Eleanor. One day she'll be with you then she'll be gone with the wind ng walang pasabi. Ganito din ba siya sa flings niya? Or sa kahit sinong nakikilala niya? Or sakin lang talaga for being a stupid jerk?
Fuck this shit.
I ran a hand through my hair for like the fiftieth time. Hindi talaga ako mapakali. Talo ko pa siguro ang nag-aalalang nanay. I'm paranoid, am I not?
Moments later, Claire went back inside.
"Where is she?"
"Sir, Mr. Gonzales was not informed about her whereabouts."
"Damn it!" I hissed, banging my fist on the table. Claire jumped in surprise. I turned to her and she looked nervous already, "I'll be gone for today, Claire. Take over first." I stood and grabbed my coat.
"Sir, we have a coming meeting with―"
"This is more important, Claire. Eleanor is more important." I snapped. She was silent then she wrote something on her planner. Halatang-halata na kinakabahan.
"I will reschedule the meeting, Sir. But with all due respect, girlfriend niyo po ba si Miss Eleanor?" I turned to Claire before smirking.
True enough, hindi ko nga girlfriend si Eleanor pero talo ko pa ang normal boyfriend. I'm worrying more than I should.
