"Oh good here they are." Mom sighs with relief.

"Yeah, sorry Mom and Dad. I had a little trouble finding these two. They run crazy all over the place!" Fiona exclaims while making wild motions.

"There are so many cool places!" Jett cries with joy. "Uh-huh! Me and Jett even found a pond with lots of frogs in it!" I say with enthusiasm.

"That's very nice that you two had lots of fun" Dad comes smiling while he comes out of the door. Me and Jett ambush him with lots of hugs.

"Already, lets all have some dinner!"

                                                           -THE NEXT DAY-

"Wake up Mel!" A high-pitch voice wakes me up.

I groggily yawn and stretch my legs. "What's wrong Jett?" I murmur as I rub my eyes.

"Lets go exploring!" Jett whispers excitedly.

"WHAT-" I start to yell but Jett stuffs his paw in my mouth. "MPHMPH!?"

"Shh!!" Jett loudly whispers as he removes his paw. "We can't go now!" I hiss back.

"Oh come on Mel, live your life!" "Sneaking around a bit won't hurt!"

" We'll only go for a short amount of time, promise!" Jett smiles.

"Oh brother.." I sigh as I surrender. Jett excitedly bounces up and down and motions me to follow him down the hall and through the door.

"He is gonna get us in big trouble." I softly murmur to myself as we exit the door.

And do we get into trouble alright...

                                                            -AFTERNOON-

"You two will NOT be leaving the den alone for a week." Mom yells sternly at us.

Like I said, we sure did get into trouble. And now I get a punishment of not being able to play or explore or have fun outside on my own, all because of JETT.

I glare at my brother, with anger fuming off of me like a strong fragrance from a flower.

He looks so sad, with his tail curled up and his ears back. My anger dies within seconds, as I see him whimper.

It's not his fault. He just wanted to explore with me the EverFern forest. I silently forgive him.

"Now you two can go to your room and think about what danger you put yourselves into." Dad speaks as he and Mom storm out of the house with disappointment all over their faces.

We enter our room and I watch as Jett silently climbs the ledge on our window and curls his tail to himself wrapping it around himself like a blanket.

"I'm so sorry Mel. You must be so angry, I'm a horrible twin and I shouldn't have-" I quickly cut him off by intertwining my tail with him.

"It's okay Jett I know you just wanted to go exploring and Mom and Dad shouldn't have gotten so angry. It's not like we get to go out everyday. Only about twice a week." I sympathize with Jett.

"Yeah, how come Fiona gets to go out everyday? It doesn't matter if she is older, two years makes barely any difference!" Jett angrily pouts.

I agree with him fully. Staying in for a week isn't healthy anyway.

I would much rather have gotten chores. At least some chores would have ended us outside, like collecting firewood or getting seeds from Mrs.Ries garden.

"Hey you two" Fiona enters our room with a sad expression on her face.

"Listen, don't take your punishment to the heart. Mom and Dad don't really mean to be ...well...mean." Fiona explains and may I add confuses herself too.

"Of course they do! They looked so sure and serious about it!" Jett exclaims while making motions. Like sister like brother.

"They mean it mainly for your well being not necessarily for you to feel sad or bad about what you've done. " Fiona gently says.

"Fiona, how come you get to go out and play or catch food or get a break? Me and Mel only get to go out twice a week, thrice if it is our birthday!" I suddenly join the conversation.

"It...it isn't as simple as it seems. " Fiona quietly whispers as her eyes dart here and there as if the walls had ears. Which they don't.

"What is that suppose to mean?" me and Jett chant together, this time not really paying attention to the fact that we said a whole five words of a sentence together.

Fiona sighs with a mix of emotions on her face. "Mom and Dad don't think your ready... but you guys deserve  to know..." she whisperers herself.

"WHAT!" me and Jett excitedly chime together full with curiosity.

"Well...the truth is... that you and Jett are the two last of the rare species of the Nine Tail Fox."
