"I...I still can't believe it." Jett says with a spooked look on his face. I couldn't agree with Jett anymore. Nine Tail Foxes, they are only in legends.
Fiona suddenly leaps up, causing me and Jett to jump.
"What's wrong Fee?" Jett questions. With one swipe of her tail, she shuts the window with a bang.
"That was open?!" she cries.
"Uhm...yes?" I say with confusion. Fiona mutters to herself while shaking her head.
"What's wrong if it was?" I ask.
"When you talk about secretive things like this, than you should make sure that you are in such a place where no one can hear anything." Fiona talks with her eyes once again in slits and darting around suspiciously." I guess walls can technically have ears.
Me and Jett look at each other. We didn't question Fiona why she said such a thing. We weren't stupid. There are plenty of evil animals out there who will do who knows what to get something they desire.
"Back to the topic" Jett says while standing up. "So, how exactly are me and Fiona Nine Tail Foxes?" I wanted to know the same thing. Like I mention, they are only in myths told by others.
"It's kinda complicated." she answers. "You two know that some rare animals have magic, right?" she questions.
"Of course" we answer in sync.
"Well, Nine Tail Foxes are one of those creatures. But while some rare descendants may have powers with fire, water, nature, rock, ice, thunder, and many more, a Nine Tail Fox's powers aren't exactly well known." Fiona starts with a misty look in her eyes.
"What do you mean?" Jett asks with a confused expression on him.
"Nine Tail Foxes have not been able to register their power to channel through them and work." Fiona says.
"Huh?" I question, confused as well.
"Only one Nine Tail Fox has been able to use the power. Her name was Anahita."
"ANAHITA?! Isn't she the one who is known to be a normal fox who was born with water powers, like some others?" Jett yells.
"That is what everyone is told. Only few actually know the real story. Anahita was a young fox just like us. Yet when she was born, her parents believed that she would have water powers." Fiona explains.
"Why did they think that?" I ask.
"This was because of the way she never cried, her fur swaying just like waves, yet the main reason was because of her eyes."
Me and Jett look at one another in astonishment.
Fiona smiles at us with amusement before continuing. "Unlike other red foxes whose eyes are brown or black, her eyes were a beautiful shade of blue. They sparkled just like the ocean's waters. And so she was named Anahita, as a goddess of water. However, she and her friends and family were not aware that she didn't have water powers. She was a Nine Tail Fox. Right away she was sent to an oracle who could tell her future. Instead, the oracle told her a prophecy about her. At once, Anahita went to her destiny and soon reached her goal. On the journey she was able to become the first one to wield her powers and they were as powerful as anyone has seen. Since than, legend says that Anahita mysteriously disappeared and it is said that she will or did go into one special fox that would one day be able to wield powers just like she was able to."
Fiona looks up at us and we just gape at her for a good long 10 seconds. This sends Fiona into a fit of giggles. She smiles at us.
"So...who is the fox that Anahita chose?" I ask.
"No one knows, there are currently only three publicly known foxes that are Nine Tail Foxes. But many others do not know that there are two more, which are you two." Fiona raises a paw to indicate us.
"But how come we are Nine Tail Foxes? Why us? How where we chosen? Do random foxes just get chosen?" Jett rapidly sends questions at Fiona.
"Yes, there is no exact pattern or relation on why foxes are chosen to be Nine Tailed. The only way we even find out if you're a Nine Tail or not is by the ears." Fiona explains.
"The ears?" I question.
"Yes. All Nine Tails have a single mark on one of their ears." says Fiona. "And you two both have them."
"Ohhh..." me and Jett realize.
I guess that's why when I'd look at my reflection and see something on my ear, I would try to swat it away but realize there is no food there. I believed that I'd just imagine it, but I guess it's my mark.
"However, you two are still special. You see..." Fiona suddenly in one motion leaps over to me and Jett and gets so close, that I can feel her breath "... you guys have...blue eyes."
