Should have asked you out sooner

Chapter 2

My alarm woke me at 8am.  I yawned and stretched out my arms.  Then a huge smile came onto my face.  Last night.  Last night hanging out with Josh was so fun.  He is the sweetest guy I’ve ever met.  I cannot believe I‘ve kissed Josh Hutcherson.  I felt deliriously happy.   I got out of bed and headed downstairs to make a coffee but halfway down the stairs my phone beeped.  Message from Josh.  ‘Hey beautiful on my way to the gym left breakfast on your doorstep xxx J‘.

I ran to the front door, opened it and sure enough there was a steaming hot coffee a cinnamon scroll and a red rose with a post it note attached.

‘can’t believe I waited so long to ask you out’ (a smiley face) ‘enjoy your morning. Will pick you up at 12.30 for lunch xxx J’. the note read

A thousand butterflies were flitting about in my stomach right now.  (Thanks for breakfast handsome.  Next time you should join me (smiley face).  See you at 12.30 xxx H) I text back to his phone.

I ate breakfast and headed upstairs for a shower.  It was only about 9.30 so I had 3 hours to kill. I called my friend Belinda to check how she was feeling today.

‘Ugh Holly never again am I eating at that place.  I still feel a bit seedy.  But at least I appear to have stopped throwing up‘ she said.

‘I’m glad your over the worst of it’ I said.

‘Oh hey how was your night’ asked Belinda.

‘Uh good, it was really good’ I replied.

‘Sure it wasn’t a great night’ Belinda says in a childish voice.

‘I’m not sure what your referring to Bel’ I retorted.

‘I was talking to James this morning and he told me a certain best friend of mine was out getting cosy with Josh Hutcherson.  Spill, I want all the horny details’. 

‘There are no horny details to spill’.  ‘He asked me to go to a charity event with him as company’ I said.

‘I mean we are not strangers Bel we’ve met a few times before’.  ‘It was a fun night‘. I said

‘I know you kissed him, don’t lie to me Holly I’ve known you a long time’.  

‘Yes I may have kissed him but, he kissed me first and It was really sweet‘.  I’m smiling as I remember the kisses.

‘Honestly Bel he is the nicest guy I’ve ever met, he’s really down to earth and funny and sweet and charming and so, so damn cute’.  

‘I was going to call you earlier but I didn’t in case you were still busy at his house’.  

‘Bel just kissing, I didn’t sleep with him and I stayed at my house, he stayed at his ok‘.  I state

‘Good girl you don’t just give it all up on the first date, make him beg for it’ she says

‘Oh shut up’, ‘I’m not making him beg for anything’.  I laughed 

‘So when are you seeing him next’ Bel says excitedly.

‘For lunch today since you were sick he thought we’d go out for lunch’.  ‘Actually, he came by my house and left breakfast and a rose for me on the porch this morning on his way to the gym’. 

‘Awe how sweet’,  ‘Holly he needs to give my boyfriend lessons on how to romance a girl’.

‘Bel, he needs to give everyone’s boyfriend lessons on how to romance a girl’.

‘Gotta go Bel take care and recover quickly, I’ll call you later.

‘Bye Hols you lucky girl.
