CH 18 – Cathy’s Story

~ Kim~

“Hello? Is this 911 who I’m speaking to?” I saw Hannah pace around my room, clutching the phone with her worried; sweaty hands. All of us were panicking due to Ellie: who had been kidnapped: said by the boys’ story. It was shocking at least; it was unexpected to have kidnappers around L.A. But the one question was always on my mind was: why?

“Thank you.” Hannah sighed and placed the phone onto my desk. Throwing herself onto my king-size bed, I heard her whimper. Hannah was crying. I’ve never seen her cry in her life before; even if it was a horror game or something: that was also an unexpected consequence to see.

So, I went up to her and placed my hand onto her shoulder. “Hannah, don’t worry: they’ll find Ellie soon enough.” I stroked her blond messy hair,            making her cry more. ‘Well this is not working’ I thought in my brain. Stopping from stroking her, I tried to think of what o cheer her up.

I muttered, “What would Lewis do if Hannah’s upset.” Before I could have acted, Hannah stopped crying and had sat up from her posture. You can see her eyes swelled up red; her hair now a messed. She sniffed and wiped her eyes off from the tears. I smiled as I grabbed a tissue for her.

“Thanks.” She sniffed, standing up. Suddenly we both heard a knock on the door. I was about to open it until Hannah stepped in and did it for me. The boys were at the door. Following Hannah, I went up to the group and we all had another talk.

Lewis started and spoke: “I called the police, and they said they’re on the case.” I nodded.

“I just called them a minute ago and asked again,” Hannah stated; now quite confident from her break down. “Somehow, Ellie’s not the only one that’s been kidnapped.” Everyone was now confused.

I asked my owl-lover friend, “What do you mean.”

Lewis popped again, “They said there’d been other cases for the past months in L.A. Like children disappearing unexpectedly on the streets.”

“Lewis, we only got 3 days left until we have to get back to Bristol.” Turps said as he gestured it with his fingers. “How can the police find her in 3 days time?” This was probably the hardest thing we have ever encountered.

We became silent: trying to think of a plan.

“Have any ideas?” Sjin answered. We all shook our heads.

Abruptly, Duncan raised his hands: like a kid in school. Looking at him, we asked what his idea was. As I quote: ‘We should pretend to not bother her lost, maybe we can fish them in and we can find her by following them’.

All of us gave him such stupid looks.

“That made no sense!” I laughed, not being mean or anything: but that did not make sense.

Duncan explained again fully: “What I meant was: we’ll pretend to forget about Ellie by going to E3 early. And maybe, we can lure those b*stards in and we’ll try and follow them where Ellie is hostage.”

“Duncan, that’s the most f*cking stupid idea I’ve ever heard.” Lewis retorted seriously. “But then again... it could work.” Maybe it would, it sounds persuasive to me.

I spoke, “I think it’s an awesome idea!” Hannah nodded; smiling widely. All of us looked to ourselves and we all agreed.

Lewis clapped and said, “It’s settled: we’re going to E3!”
