Ameena POV:
"Wear that navy blue abaya it matches this scarf." Maryam said sitting on my bed with my navy blue scarf pointing at my navy blue abaya. I took it out and took it with me to my en suite bathroom to have a shower. I never touched my hair because I washed it in the morning. I wore my abaya on and came out the bathroom.
Maryam was sitting there looking at her bump in the mirror which was installed in my wardrobe.
"Looking fat." I laughed putting kohl on. Maryam went red and waddled back on the bed. I put my blue hat on then wore my scarf on top.
"How do I look?" I enquired turning around.
"Like a princess." She said getting teary. She was like that a lot. Acting shy one minute, laughing the next minute then crying the next.
"You always say that; the man comes and gets disappointed. You know what they say 3rd time lucky." I said forcing a smile onto my face.
"Gosh! Ameena those two guys were blind for crying out loud. Anyway isn't it you that always says- everything happens for a reason. Allah has a plan for us all." Maryam mimicked.
"I hate it when your right." I sighed. It was 3:40 when we made our way downstairs to help mum.
"Maryam! Sit down you look exhausted. Ameena can you organised these foods." Mum ordered and we did the things being demanded by my mum straight away.
My brother and dad were all dressed and calculating the restaurant latest figures; they were looking to open a hotel soon in'sha'allah.
Before we knew it there was a knock on the door; I could feel my heart beating really fast but I took my cousins advice and breathed in and out. We had a family Whatsapp group; it consisted of my cousins and Maryam, I think Rayhan had a group with the my cousins who were boys. I kept breathing in and out. Pretending to look busy in the kitchen.
I heard talking which stopped when Maryam called me.
"Ameena, they're ready for you." I breathed in one last time and followed her to the living room.
"Assalamualykum." I said once again forcing a smile. I saw a women who was assessing how I looked. She never looked disappointed which was wierd I was used to seeing disappointed faces. She looked to her left to a boy- who I was guessing was Muhammad. He had a black beard and black hair which was covered with a topee (hat).
"Waalykumussalam." She said actually smiling! I mean not forcing a smile like me but actually smiling. I took a seat on the right hand side of her.
"How are you?" She asked.
"Alhamdulliah. I'm good." I replied. I was surprised I wasn't stuttering but I put that at the back of my head.
"Do you have a job?" She asked.
"I don't work. I do household chores, like cooking, cleaning. Allah has blessed our family." I replied again. I looked up to my mum who was nodding and smiling.
"How are you with your Salaah?" She asked again. I sighed in my head breathing in again.
"Alhamdulliah I pray all my prayers; I find it difficult to wake up for Fajr- if I miss it I make up for it before mid-day. I am looking for a man who can wake me up for fajr." I explained.
"Don't worry- Muhammad wakes up everyday." She chuckled. I looked down feeling myself going red.
"Raeesah- I think they should go to a private room and ask each other any questions they want to- With Rayhan of course." She said talking to my mum. My mum nodded and we followed Rayhan to the next room. Both of us looking down until we got into the next room.
Rayhan sat down on the floor after telling us to sit on the sofa.
I was surprised she said Rayhan- he was immature; then again that was only to me. There was silence for a couple of minutes.
"Is this all your going to do?" Rayhan said looking around the room. I was enjoying the silence and Rayhan had to break it.
"I'll break this silence for you both. Muhammad- this is Ameena!" Rayhan said. Muhammad then looked up at me.
"What do you want in a husband?" Muhammad asked breaking the seconds of silence.
I looked down before Rayhan commented. "Sorry Ameena, you don't need to act shy now. Its not your wedding day yet."
I looked up glared at him before laughing. I looked back down realising Muhammed was laughing too.
