Ameena POV:
I thought I would break the news about me saying yes to Muhammed to my family as soon as I woke up to add to the joy our family were going through at the moment but when I came down the stairs they had gone to the hospital to collect Maryam. I was about to make breakfast and go next door but the phone rang.
When I picked it up it was Muhammed mum. I was debating with myself in my mind whether or not to tell her; I eventually decided not to and replied to her salaam (greeting). I told her about Rayhan and Maryam but went red in the face when she mentioned Muhammed. I kept thinking about the dream I had. It was amazing Alhamdulliah. As a child I always wanted to pray a prayer behind my husband.
I said goodbye to her and had breakfast before I went to my cousin house next door.
"When are they coming back?" My Auntie Zara asked.
"I don't know but they should be back before the end of today In'sha'allah ." I replied.
"Ameena!" Khadija screamed giving me a tight hug. I was 20 and Khadija was 19. I think we got along because of such a small age gap between us. Khadija was Auntie Zara only child; My uncle Dawood walked in.
"Ameena. What did you think about Muhammed?" Uncle Dawood asked. I just gave him a blank look because I wanted to break the news to my parents first.
Khadija gave him the 'eyes'
"I'm sorry Uncle but I want my parents to be the first ones to know about my decision. I hope you understand." I smiled.
"I understand. How could I be so inconsiderate." He said then mumbled.
He took a seat on the sofa then we just started talking about the baby.
*Ring * Ring *
I took my phone out and answered it.
"As-salaamualaykum Maryam." I said to her. Khadija begged me to put it on speaker phone so I did. Me Kahdija and Maryam were really close the main reason is because we were next door plus most of my other cousin lived in a different town.
"Maryam you are now on speaker phone Khadija, Auntie Zara and Uncle Dawood are here. How are you?" I asked.
"Assalamualykum everyone. Alhamdulliah I'm good." She replied.
"Maryam how's the baby?" Auntie Zara asked.
"He's good too Alhamdulliah. I'm coming home in a couple of hours." She said delightfully.
We then started talking about baby things. It was mostly Auntie Zara giving her advice and stuff.
It was 6:25pm when they came home and the house looked beautiful and amazing with balloons and banners everywhere. I did have help doing it- from Khadija and Auntie Zara made the cake.
I gave Rayhan and Maryam a hug as soon as they arrived.
"The house looks so nice." Maryam commented looking at the balloons. Me and Kahdija smiled before thanking her in unison.
They took a seat on the sofa; it was wierd not seeing Maryam waddling. Auntie Zara took the baby and played with him.
"He's beautiful Mash'allah... Have you thought about a name?" She asked cradling the baby.
"Do you want to tell them?" Maryam smiled looking at Rayhan enthusiasticlly.
"You tell them." He said holding her hand tightly.
"Me and Rayhan decided to let my parent's pick the name and we got off the phone to them at the hospital and they decided to name the baby Yusuf." She explained as Rayhan smiled.
"Do you like the name?" Rayhan asked my mum and dad who smiled and hugged Rayhan and then Maryam.
"Does that answer your question." My mum replied back.
"I love the name." My dad said. We all agreed and the rest of the conversation was mainly Khadija and Maryam talking.
I held Yusuf after Khadija and my Uncle. He cried a little but I handled the situation by singing him a Islamic lullaby.
"Hush little baby, pure and so small He created you, He created us all. Hush little baby, don’t you fear We’re never alone when Allah’s (god) so near. Hush little, breathing so calm He’ll protect us all and keep us from harm Hush little baby, still and serene You are a Muslim, Islam your deen (religion)."
"I guess I'm gonna have to get you to sing that whenever he cries." Maryam chuckled.
"That was amazing." Khadija commented.
"Jaza'kallah- Oh mum you need to ring Auntie Aneesa. She rang to ask about Maryam." I said referring to Muhammed mum who rang earlier.
"I know its early but have you made a decision?" My dad asked as I looked down.
"Ameena- its a yes or a no!" Rayhan said taking Yusuf off me and sitting back down next to Maryam. I think he got annoyed because there was silence for a while.
I nodded as they all smiled at each other. Khadija squealed really loudly making Yusuf cry. She apologised. I tried to hold my laughter in but I couldn't. Maryam took Yusuf and told me to sing whilst she cradled Yusuf As I sang the Yusuf became quiet.
