Chris' P.O.V

Another day at work in Los Angeles, California with a director trying to find some new auditions to sign up for to keep my career up in check. I was sitting outside of a restaurant for lunch on break talking with the director next to me. Although we were talking about a script that I wanted to direct and he was saying how the script wasn't so good and that he wanted to make some changes to the script. I thought it was perfect but he wanted to me work on it some more and let me take some time off from work to work on it. "They hated it." I said to the director and by they I meant the producers. "Well you know the problem with being a director is people expect more." The director said. "That means they hated it." I said again in disbelief since I really wanted to work on such a great script yet he was in denial here. Not such a great day for me that's for sure.

"No, no, hate is such a strong word. They loathed it." The director said. "Better." I said in sarcasm. How could the loath a good script? I mean does anyone know an amazing script when they see one? "I tried." The director said. "Two in a row. I mean, one bomb, it...One 'not particularly successful' script I can deal with, Chris, but two is..."

"This is quite the pep talk." I say in sarcasm. Man here's this amazing director and he's saying these producers don't like his work? Come on! I've seen the script and I thought it was amazing. If these people say it's bad then there's something wrong here. Looks like I am going to have to find something else.

"Look, this is unproductive, okay? Get some sleep. Take a week off. Don't read anymore of those papers. And then I need you find a way to get us back to where we were..." The detector says finally cutting me some slack. "Three years ago?" I ask wondering if he is wanting me to rewrite the script and make it better but I don't want to go back. I just started in on this. Ugh! "Yes." He says hoping I will take it into consideration. "But I don't want to go backwards." I said. "Yes, but I do. Because three years ago I was directing hit movies with great scripts. Which means I was directing them and the producers loved them. Three years ago I was making money, Chris, but now I am spending money, lots of it. And I would like to go back to making money." He says really wanting me to rewrite the script all on my own. "I know you got other auditions and screenplays you want to do." He says before getting up to walk off and I stop him. "What if I don't?" I said asking him cause I might as well take the chance. "What if all I have is this one?" "Well I don't want to go there. Look you'll figure it out." He said patting me on the back before leaving. He really was going to leave me in on rewriting the script. Am I going to have to direct this and rewrite this all on my own? Oh boy.
