Reader's P.O.V.
We went to Lucy's down the street and ordered ourselves a "mind blowing lime gelato." as my roomate likes to call it and decided to walk and talk for a bit. We laughed at each other's jokes. I loved the feeling of his company. He seems like an amazing guy. I feel like I can be myself when I am around him. With Patrick not so much. Maybe it was a good think Patrick was going to be late to our dinner date because this moment with Chris felt like a miracle to me.
We both walked along side the pier and sat down on a bench to watch the sunset as it was really beautiful tonight.
"You ran away from home to live in a lighthouse?" Chris asked me as I laughed. "Yes, it used to be right there." I pointed at where the light house used to be. "I was only going to live there until I had enough money to afford my own boat and sail away." I told him the story of how I wanted to run away as a kid and live in a lighthouse. "I miss sailing. Anyway, I had visions of playing at Carnegie Hall." I told him. I always had a passion for music ever since I was little."You were that good?" He asked and I laughed. "No, I could barely play chopsticks." He laughed. "I guess I had the tendency to dream a little too big." "You say that like it's a bad thing." "Well, I mean it can be. Anyway, my mom found me half an hour later and I will never forget what she said. 'Lighthouses aren't there to draw attention to themselves, they're just there to shine.' Her way of saying I didn't need to be so dramatic." "I guess she didn't have that same conversation with your little sister." He said and I laughed. "No." "She seems like she was a wise woman, your mother." "She was. You know, she could handle anything even the most difficult situations with such poise and grace. I always admired that." I said to him. Sitting there with him and talking to him was like the best thing there is. I could talk to him about anything and he wouldn't judge a thing. That's one of the many things I like about him. "Anyway, I just, I feel closer to her here, you know." "Yeah. What is this?" Chris asked as he was seeing people get up and dance.
"Uh, small town tradition." I said to him. "You know, I had my first dance with a boy in that circle when I was 12." I told him. "Really? Was it serious?" He asked. "Oh, very, yep. Four whole days." I said to him. He laughed. "I'm not the greatest dancer." He said to me. "What? Are you kidding you can tap dance." I said to him laughing. "Of course you're a great dancer." "Ah, well I am pretty sure I can match the skills of a 12 year old. Since we are the only ones not dancing, you want to dance?" He asked me as he got up and took my hand. "Sure." I said and took his hand as he walked me over to where all of the people are dancing.
We talked some more as we both danced together. "I can see it now, you know, why this town means so much to you." He said to me as we danced. "It's a part of me. And I guess I am a part of it." "Like the coffee shop." He said. "Yeah." I said in agreement. "I guess I just thought if I could just capture a small piece of it and share it, then maybe..." "You could make a difference." He said finishing my sentence. "But, I mean I was naive. The world certainly doesn't care about the idealistic notions of a small town coffee girl." "Why wouldn't they?" He asked as he looked into my eyes with love and passion. "I do." We were about to kiss before my phone started to ring and I grabbed it out to answer it.
"I have to get that." I said to him apologetically. "Yeah, of course." He said. "Hello?" I said answering my phone. "Yeah, hi, no. Just down at the water. No, I'll meet you there. Okay." I said as I hung up and walked back to Chris. It was Patrick as he was wondering where I was since I was there at the restaurant for our dinner date. So I guess I just had two dates one with Chris Evans and one that I am going to have with my ex Patrick. Oh boy. I am already falling hard for Chris but like I said I still have feelings for Patrick. Wish me the best of luck.
