It was the night after the fight and all day people had come by the house to congratulate JJ.
Simon had been celebrating winning money from the bet he put on his best friend, while others were gassed they could finally forget about the anxiety they had withheld for months.
Everyone was planning on going out but the jet lag had caught up with me and I was severely lacking energy.
Although Simon had offered to stay with me, I encouraged him to go out. I wanted him to have fun for once in his life, despite me not being there.
I waved off everyone in the house that had dressed up and was heading out. Simon kissed me and whispered, "love you," before leaving, not staying long enough to see me blush.
I then proceeded to tuck myself into his bed, quickly falling asleep until an hour or two later when my phone rung.
I noticed it was Freya calling and considered going back to sleep until I thought about the possibility of something happening to Simon, and answered.
"Freya?", I asked, sleepily.
"Hey hey Hailey," she yelled into the phone, clearly well on her way to being drunk.
"Why'd you call me?", I asked in a grumpy tone, already struggling to hear her over the music.
"I was just gonna say, Talia's here and she's hanging sort of close around Simon but don't worry, I'll make sure nothing happens," she stated.
I wasn't sure whether I was meant to be relieved or more paranoid but I rolled my eyes even though no one else could see me, and then asked "how close?"
"He's just got his arm around her and they're like laughing about something, nothing is really happening," she slurred.
I thanked her and hung up, huffing. I still trusted Simon not to do anything, but I also knew how he was when he was drunk.
It was her I didn't trust. She knew he had a girlfriend and appeared to still be pursuing him.
I groaned to myself and tried to get to sleep, despite the concern of something happening between them, creeping into my mind.
It was useless. I couldn't fall asleep. Instead, I decided to stalk Talia, quickly discovering she's a youtuber and a singer.
I switched between her instagram and my own, quickly noticing the difference in quality of photos, with her model shots compared to my hideous makeup-free face in Sydney airport.
Much later I heard noise downstairs and realised everyone must have returned. I was somewhat awake but not in the mood to interact with everyone who was most likely drunk.
I chucked my phone to the side, hearing some of them come up the stairs, probably heading to bed. There were cheers coming from the bottom of the stairs as well as some shushing.
The light in the room suddenly turned on and I saw Simon try to be quiet as he crept into the room.
I watched him trip over my shoes and swear at himself, causing me to start laughing at his clumsiness. His head looked up quickly as he then realised I was already awake.
"Sorry if we woke you, I tried to make them be quiet," he said apologetically.
I dismissed his apology, "How was it?", I asked as he started getting undressed.
He shrugged in reply. "It was alright," he said, starting to list the people who came whilst hanging up his clothes in the wardrobe.
"Did Talia come?", I ask, trying not to sound accusatory.
"Oh yeah, she was there," he replied, making it seem like he had just forgotten that she had been there and not purposely avoided mentioning her.
I nodded in silence and noticed his face get serious and somewhat sad but he didn't say anything, only shaking his head to himself.
I watched him get ready for bed, not making much noise, as he checked his computer to make sure videos were ready to go up the next day.
He sighed, getting into bed, staring up at the ceiling and refusing to make eye contact with me. I was confused at what he was angry about but knowing he was tipsy, I let it go.
"Simon," I gently called for his attention.
He hummed in response as his blue eyes met mine, and he finally broke a smile. "I love you," I said, inching forward to kiss him.
We were chest to chest as his hands rested on my back, under my shirt, as he held me tightly.
"I. Love. You. Too," he said in between the kisses he peppered on my neck. I giggled and lightly pushed him away, eager to get to sleep.
I closed my eyes but could feel him watching me. I opened them again, unable to sleep when I could sense his eyes still on me.
I giggled again, when my suspicions were confirmed, placing a hand over his eyes to signal to him to stop being creepy.
He moved my hand away, brushing the hair away from my face as I felt myself slowly fade into sleep.
