!Being Remade!

Shots Fired

I started moving, no shaking. I heard someone saying my name. I slowly opened my eyes to see a frantic looking Dennis shaking my arm. I was still laying on the couch but I was propped up slightly.

I sat up holding my head."Hey Dennis, what's wrong?" I asked as I looked at him.

He was shaking violently. "A-at school C-Connor's gang m-members attacked me b-because C-Connor went m-missing." He stuttered out.

I nodded and he continued. "T-they threatened me and saw me g-going into the w-woods and I t-think they f-followed me." He hugged me tightly."I-I'm scared."

I hugged him back and rubbed his back gently."It'll be ok, don't worry." I tried to reassure him.

To be honest, I was scared to. I had another 'vision' or whatever, so I didn't have my powers to protect him. I didn't want him to get hurt, and after what I saw what happened to him I'll give my life for him. I think he has already gone through too much already.

I got up and held Dennis' hand. "We have to leave for now. I lost my powers again so we have to hide, ok?"

He slowly nodded. "For how long?"

"About three days." He nodded again with a determined face. It was actually really cute to me.

"Get the thing that you care about the most and a weapon. Then get changed, go to the bathroom, get a snack, and get your shoes on. We are leaving as fast as possible." He nodded again.

I kissed his cheek and we split up to gather everything needed. I got my spell book and box, my phone, changed into my clean red sweater, put my shoes on, went to the bathroom, got the gun from under the bed, and ate a bag of sour gummy worms which stung my mouth intently since I downed it in one bite.

When I was ready I put everything into my satchel and waited for Dennis. After a minute he came out of the bedroom wearing his blue sweater and he was holding his phone, a notebook and a pen. He grabbed an apple and knife, handed me his stuff so I could put it in my satchel, and we left.

We walked deeper into the woods, cautious of hunters or the gang members. Dennis finished his apple and even ate the core, we stayed silent after a while.

When it got dark we both went into a cave to camp. I started a fire while Dennis went to find berries. I wanted to go so he wouldn't get hurt, but he ended up persuading me with his cute face. He took both weapons and made sure to stay close.

I waited in silence as I read my spell book for anyways I could get my powers back faster. After a while, Dennis came running with apples and oranges in his arms. He was terrified and quickly crawled into the cave.

I stomped the fire out and looked at him. "Did they see you?" I whispered scared.

He nodded shaking violently. "Y-yeah, they f-followed me I think." He whispered back.

We crawled into the corner of the cave and covered ourselves in leaves and stayed quiet. We heard gunshots going off and it growing closer to us. Dennis started crying silently, and I cupped his cheek wiping his tears away with my thumb.

We heard voices and saw feet near the entrance of the cave from under the leaves. Dennis almost screamed but I kissed him so he wouldn't. He hugged my arm as we pulled apart, he was so scared and it hurt me so much.

Every time one of them raised their voices at each other or shot a gun Dennis winced slightly. I kept holding him close to me as they started to walk off. When I was certain they were gone I slowly and quietly started to get up. I moved my hands towards the ground telling him to stay, he nodded and obeyed as I walked to the entrance of the cave.

I couldn't hear anything. I slowly walked out of the cave opening looking around. I reached for my satchel, and it wasn't there. I remembered I left it with Dennis and silently cursed myself.

I turned around to head back into the cave but someone grabbed my arm and ripped me to the ground. I fell against some rocks and hitched my breath.

I looked up and saw four males in matching jackets, white shirts or tank tops underneath, ripped jeans, and they all had guns in hand.

One aimed their pistol at my head. "Do you know where Dennis Ó Gallchobhair around here?" He asked in a raspy and demanding voice.

I had a confused expression on my face, to convince them that I don't know and because I had no idea that Ó Gallchobhair was his last name.

I shook my head. "N-no, I don't k-know any Dennis." I made my accent sound thicker so they would get that I wasn't from around city.

The man with the gun to my head groaned and said something I couldn't hear. "Get up ya' foreigner." He lashed out.

I nodded and slowly got up. "Tusen takk for at du sparer meg."

"What did you say? English now." Another demanded as he began to raise his gun.

I pretended to flinch and nodded. "I said 'Thank you so much for sparing me.'. I explained.

The man nodded and put his gun down. "Let's go guys." He demanded again.

They all nodded and started walking away. One of them started talking to the guy with my biggest gun and he nodded. The other guy turned back at me and aimed his gun at my shoulder and shot before I could move.

I screamed and fell to the ground holding my shoulder. He yelled at me, "THAT'S A WARNING SHOT YA' FREAKY FOREIGNER!!" Then they all ran out of sight.

I kept hold of my wound as blood started to pour out onto the floor creating a pool of the red crimson liquid. Dennis quickly got up and rushed to my side, he was crying and holding my potion box.

He opened the box and instantly froze when looking inside. "W-whats w-w-wrong?" I asked stuttering from pain.

"T-they aren't here." He mumbling coving his mouth with his hand stopping him from sobbing loudly. "I-I'm sorry, t-this is all my fault."

I held onto one of his hands smiling weakly. "I-it isn't your f-fault. Don't w-worry." I whispered.

He looked at me and hugged me and I tried my best to hug him back. When we pulled away he helped me up and we started walking in the opposite direction of the gang, towards the city thankfully.

We got to the city and I almost fell when we walked into the hospital. I was losing a lot of blood quickly. When the nurse at the desk saw me she instantly called in a doctor.

The doctor came and rushed me onto a gurney and rolled me into a room. Dennis waved to me as I rolled away and I weakly waved back.

When we got into the room they put me on anesthetics, I think. After they put a thing on my mouth everything was a blur. I heard a beeping startup from the left side of me. I started to slowly fall into a sleep while doctors rushed around the room as others put ivies into my arms.

I stuttered out a word before I fell unconscious. "D-Dennis-" then my head fell back against the pillow under me and I passed out.
