"Why am I here?" I ask, being dragged by Ty.

"Because I looooove you." He says, making kissing faces at me.

"Doubt it." I say rolling my eyes.

"Fine. 'Cuz I asked nicely?" He asked, trying again.

I sigh. "Whatever. Why are we here though?"

"Because I need to buy my sister a Christmas present."

"Oh, Sophie. All right, because it's Sophie." I say, following him in.

"And you're my best friend." He says, winking at me.

I laugh. "All right, a little."

"And because you love me?" He asks, eye brows wagging, as he twirls me around.

"In your dreams." I say, shoving him back.

"Okay, okay, working on it."

"So, which store?" I ask as we walk into the mall. "Over three hundred stores, what does she like?"

"Eh, we'll get to her later, but first," He says. He grabs my hand and starts running to the opposite end of the mall. "MC Sports!"

Once we get to the store, I wretch my hand

out of his iron grasp. "Right, well, don't kill anyone." I yell after him as he sprints off.

I walk around a bit. I look at the running shoes. 'These'd come in handy if I get chased by Ryan and the neanderthals again. Heh, sounds like a band name." I think, cracking a smile.

"Ya know, it's not everyday a beautiful girl like you smiles at me." I hear from next to me. I jump a little and look. Standing there is a tall, muscular and tan boy my age. His dirty blond hair is spiked up, and his blue eyes are twinkling at me.

"Oh, ah, aha. Sorry, didn't see you there." I reply, blushing.

"Oh? So you weren't smiling at me?" He says, lifting an eyebrow.

"No, but I am now." I say, getting my calmness back.

He leans down to my height. "What do you say to going and getting some milkshakes with me?" He asks.

Before I can reply, I hear a voice from behind me say, "Sorry, but we're busy. Move along, dude."

I look behind me, and what do I see? Ty. Greeeeaaaat.

"Oh, sorry man. Didn't know she was taken. Shouldn't be surprised, she's too pretty to be single." They are roughly the same height, and stare very hard at each other. I suddenly felt very left out of a conversation about me.

"We're actually not dating. But he's right, sadly. We are busy. But I'll see you around okay?" I say, practically pulling them apart.

"All right. My name's Derrick." He says.

"Lily." I reply, fluttering my eyes a little.

"See you 'round, Lily." He says, and saunters off.

"Never talk to him again." Ty says, still tense.

I scoff. "Oh yeah? And why not?"

"I've seen his type. Flirts with every girl in sight, breaking hearts as he goes, doesn't settle down for too long, the like. Stay away from guys like that."

"Oh, so you mean, you?" I say, crossing my arms.

"Wait, what?" He says, looking at me in surprise.
