The day had barely started, and there was hardly any light around. Most of the people were slowly waking up, but in a house, its residents had woken up a while ago. Still, if one were to search, they would not find them inside the residence no matter how hard they tried. They simply weren't there.

Following the sound of faint voices and cries though, they would find themselves reaching the backyard. And there, in the middle of it, among numerous trees, Eir and Brandt were fighting, their parents and Cuyler watching some ways away.

"Harder!" Brynjar called out, his eyebrows furrowed as he watched his two children fighting, his son with his sword and his daughter with her longer than usual cane.

"Come on, Brandt!" Cuyler called out. "Finish her off!"

"There is nothing for him to finish off," Brynjar snapped without turning to his son, "he is almost losing."

And he was indeed.

The weapons were moving so quickly it was hard for one to keep up with the pace they were moving. The faces of the two siblings were scrunched up in concentration. That fight had been going on for way too long.

Brandt was an excellent fighter, but then again, so was Eir. Their father had trained them well. Brandt, though, had the advantage.

Even if good, his sister was naturally weaker than him as she had less muscle on her body, and she got tired quickly. When tired, though, she tended to make mistakes. And this time was no different.

She blocked every blow her brother was aiming at her, moving to the side after each blow just like her father had taught her. Her brother's attacks seemed to get stronger, though, and as she tried to dodge a hit, she turned her back on him for less than a second.

But it was enough.

Seeing her weakness, Brandt did not waste a second to slam the hilt of his sword on her lower back, effectively managing to make her lose her balance. Eir barely managed to not fall, but her brother was not known to be merciful in battle, and without even using his weapon, he tripped her just as she tried regaining her balance.

The young woman fell on the ground, having her breath being knocked out of her because of the impact, and with a sword aimed straight at her.

There was the sound of applause, most probably from Cuyler, as Eir frowned slightly. That was one more loss against him.

"It was a good fight," Brandt praised with a smile as he put his sword away and outstretched an arm towards her so as to help her stand up. She did not hesitate to grab his arm, allowing him to pull her up.

"Thank you."

"What was the first rule I ever told you to not disobey when fighting?" her father called out as he made his way towards the two.

"Don't turn your back on your enemy," she mumbled as she looked at the ground.

"And what did you do?"

"I turned my back on my enemy."

"Eir, please try to never do it again," he muttered, and she lifted her head up as she heard the concern in his voice. "Is that understood?"

She nodded. "Yes."

The father let out a sigh before he allowed a smile to appear on his lips. "Nevertheless, it was a good fight," he praised, this time, turning to Brandt as well before he focused his attention on his daughter once again. "You might wish to clean yourself up."

Knowing she was dismissed, Εir nodded and wordlessly, grabbed her cane that had fallen to the ground previously and made her way back to the house.
