Standing beside her parents, dressed in her best attire, Eir couldn't have been more proud as she watched her two brothers, Brandt and Cuyler, become parts of the palace's guard. It was something both of them had wanted, Brandt more than Cuyler, and now, it was becoming true.
As soon as the ceremony was over, Eir didn't hesitate to walk over to her brothers as her parents conversed with the king and the queen. She stopped in front of them, walked past Fandral, Volstagg and Thor who were standing in front of them, seemingly congratulating them, and raised an arm on each of their cheeks.
"Finally, members of the guard," she mumbled, a wide smile forming on her lips as she noticed their expression and the wide smiles both of them had on their lips. "You bring honour to our family."
"Of course, it's the greatest honour," Thor boomed from behind them and Eir turned to face him with a fond smile as he beamed at them.
"You could bring great honour to your family as well, Eir," Fandral spoke up, a wide smirk forming on his lips as she turned to face him. "By marrying a Prince, of course. Prince Loki, for instance."
"Why, what's wrong with Thor?" she retorted with a teasing grin, bringing Volstagg to laugh just as someone cleared their throat from behind her.
"Feel free to marry my brother if you so desire it."
Eir only rolled her eyes at Fandral's grin as she turned around, only meet a deep green gaze that instantly made her eyes soften. "Of course."
Thor, now growing slightly uncomfortable, cleared hid throat. "I'm sorry, do I get a say in this?"
Eir laughed as she dragged her eyes away from Loki and turned to face Thor. "Don't worry, Thor, we aren't getting married any time soon."
"Congratulations, Brandt, Cuyler," Loki spoke up once more as he sent them a nod. "Being a royal guard is indeed considered an honour. I'm afraid you'll be around my brother an awful lot of time now, though."
Brandt raised an eyebrow. "And I suppose being in your presence is a wonderful experience?"
"Of course it is but I'm usually in my room so you'll be deprived of that pleasure," he replied without missing a beat, a hand pressing against the small of Eir's back. "Now, if you don't mind, Eir and I have somewhere to be."
"Loki, it can wait," she mumbled as she looked up at him but he only shook his head.
"Mother insisted."
"Go on, Eir," Fandral grinned over at her as he moved between her brothers and wrapped an arm around each of their shoulders. "I'll teach your brothers what fun looks like."
She scrunched her nose up in slightly disgust and shook her head but said nothing as she left with Loki to the sound of Thor's and Volstagg's laughter. As soon as they had left the hall a feast would soon take place, she turned to face her companion without slowing down. "Why couldn't you wait-"
"Mother did ask for you, love," he cut in softly as he turned to face her. "I wouldn't take you away from your brothers like that during such a day if it weren't important. Though, after your talk with my mother, I'd like it if we were to take a walk in the gardens. Think about it, everyone will be at the feast, we'll be alone-"
"Fine, Loki," she interrupted him softly as she looked up with a smile. "We'll take a walk. But then, I want to return to the feast."
He nodded once, "As you wish."
Soon, they had reached his mother's chambers. Loki raised his arm and knocked on the door thrice and almost instantly, a voice called them in. Eir and Loki got inside, only to find Frigga sitting on her bed, an ornate golden box at hand. She looked up as they entered and instantly sent them a smile.
