The ambulance stops on the road and medics rush down the little forest to go help Augustus. Hazel is on the road with a medic, practically fainting for loss of air. She's constantly coughing and they give her oxygen. A medic reaches for a shot to calm her down but she's freaking out for Augustus.

"Where is he?!" she yells.

"Is he okay?!"

"Ma'am, there are medics going down to the car. He'll be fine. Now I have to give you a shot so you can calm down, you've been through a lot.", the medic replies.

"I need to see him! I need to make sure he's okay!"

She gets up from the ambulance and tries to make her way down before the medic shoots the medicine in her and she falls unconscious.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

"We see the car! He's over here!"

The medics rush down the car and try opening the door, but it's jammed shut. They look inside and see Augustus unconscious.

"Get back" says one medic and he bust the passenger side window. He grabs a pair of scissors and cuts the seatbelt. The medics then grab him and take him out the car and they check for a pulse.

He's alive.

Back at the hospital

Beep. Beep. Beep.

Hazel wakes up, groggy.

"Where's Augustus?"
Her mom stops reading the book and looks at her.

"Who's Augustus?" She says

Hazel jumps in surprise.
"What do you mean who's Augustus mom?!"

Hazel looks at her mother and she sees so much confusion in her face.

"My boyfriend! You met him! We went to Amsterdam! He has a prosthetic leg! His father forced him to like basketball!"

"Hazel, calm down. I don't know what you're talking about. It must be the medicine."

"The medicine?! He's real!"
Hazel starts sobbing. "He's real."

A nurse sees everything that went on and with a calm soothing voice she asks, "Hazel, do you know why you're here?"

Hazel looks up. Her vision blurred by the tears.
Sniffs. "Because of the car accident."

Both the nurse and her mother were shocked.

The nurse immediately walks out to get the doctor.

"Sweetie, what car accident?"

"With Gus! He crashed in the forest and I was taken by an ambulance."

"Honey, there was no car accident."

"What do you mean?! I remember it!"

"Hazel, you came her because you weren't getting enough oxygen. The water got back in the lungs and the ambulance brought you here."

As soon as Hazel hears this, she stops.

The doctor walks in.
"Hazel, I've been told you think something else happened. You're just having a sort of dream. More of an illusion because of the lack of oxygen to your brain."
