Going Home

Once I see it's Hazel's mom calling, I get nervous. I start thinking negatively and I don't want to answer. I answer anyways.

"Hello?"

"Hi Augustus! How are you?" She asks

"I'm fine how about you?"

"I'm great actually. I have good news!"

My face lights up with happiness. I start thinking about how maybe Hazel is 100% cured. That she won't need an oxygen tank to help her anymore. How she'll get to finally live a normal life.

I say, "What is it?"

"Hazel gets to go home tomorrow! We're holding a dinner tomorrow night at 7 p.m. But Hazel wants to see you before that."

"That's great! How bout I wait for you guys at your house tomorrow so I can surprise Hazel?"

"That sounds great! See you you later then. Goodnight"

The next morning, I wake up early. I grab the keys of my car and start driving to the local grocery store. It takes me a while to get there, due to my horrible driving, but I get there on time. I get out the car and walk as fast as I can and look for the flower section. After five minutes, I find it in the back of the store and start looking for tulips. Luckily, they had orange tulips and a I grab a bouquet of those and go pay for them.

I drive back to Hazel's house and I get there as soon as Hazel's parents are walking out the house. I park the car a few cars away from their house because I don't want Hazel to know I'm there.

"Hello Mrs. and Mr.Lancaster."

"Hey Augustus" they say in unison.

"The house is all yours for now. We'll be back in about an hour.",Hazel's dad says.

I smile and wave as they leave the driveway. I go inside their house and put the fresh orange tulips into a vase. I spend quit a while trying to for figure out if I should wait for Hazel in her living room or in her bedroom. I finally decide to wait for her in her room. She'll never expect me there.

Thirty minutes pass and I hear a car pulling in. It's her! She's finally here. My heart is racing and pounding in my chest. I'm really nervous and feel my heart beat go to my throat but I feel a rush of excitement in me too. I finally get to see her. I hear the front door open and in walks in Hazel and her parents. I'm sitting on her bed waiting and I finally hear footsteps coming up the stairs.

Hazel opens the door and I'm to nervous to do anything.

"Oh my god! Augustus!", she yells as she throws her arms violently up in the air.

I smile, that's all I can really do right now but I manage to get up and hug her tight. I grip her and don't want to let her go and she does the same to me. We haven't seen each other in so long and when we pull away to see each other, we both go in for the kiss.

"I missed you soooooo much Hazel.", I say as I try to catch my breath.

She leans in for another kiss,"So did I Augustus."
