This was all too much for me. I had just ran away from home, saw my ex boyfriend, met a new guy that I just said I loved, and almost got killed in the dark without even knowing it. Was I that stupid? Was the camp that stupid? They could've at least detected something.
We finally got there after 10 minutes. It felt weird. All of this felt weird. When my feet finally touched the ground (thank God for that) my phone range.
Incoming call: Mom
Oh great, just great. What was I going to tell her? "Hey mom guess what, I ran away from home with my magical vampire sister only to find out that we were being hunted by shape shifters. And then, we went to a campsite full of other vampires, werewolves, witches, shapeshifters, and pretty much anything you can think of. I then found out that I loved this guy that I'd just met 3 hours ago. And now we just landed on ground from flying. Cool huh?"
Yeah like THAT was going to happen. I picked up the call and immediatly could tell she was worried.
"WHERE ARE YOU! ARE YOU GUYS CRAZY! DO YOU KNOW HOW DANGEROUS IT IS TO BE OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT ALONE? DO YOU KNOW WHAT THEY DO TO WOMEN AT THIS TIME-IT IS NOT VERY AMUSING! "
"Mom, calm down, we're ok, we're with some friends. We'll be home soon,"
"SOON? ARE YOU KIDDING ME MARY YOU ARE COMING HOME RIGHT NOW. RIGHT. NOW. DON'T MAKE UP EXCUSES,"
"But mom, I can't go back home, it's dangerous,"
"ARE YOU TELLING ME IT'S DANGEROUS TO GO BACK TO YOUR HOME, BUT IT'S NOT DANGEROUS TO BE 16 YEARS OLD AND WANDERING AROUND THE STREETS AT 3 IN THE MORNING. YOU'VE GOTTA BE KIDDING!"
Then I heard a deep voice. Not my dad's, that's for sure.
"Mom, where are you? Who's with you," My mind came up with answer but I couldn't believe it or accept it.
"Am, what's wrong?" The guy I was convinced I loved asked me and I knew my mom heard.
"Who's with you, and why did they call you by your last name?"
"Answer my question, mom," I said firmly. I was about to cry and I couldn't handle her irrational nonsense right now.
"Mary, you don't tell me what t-" I cut her off.
"MOM TELL ME!" I was yelling and the tears gushed out like a waterfall. I knew everyone around me was staring at me. I didn't appreciate the attention right now.
"Um...well I um,"
