"Hank!"

"Oh, God, what is it this time," Hank stops chatting with Connor when he hears his name being called. He spins his chair to turn around and sees Captain Fowler standing in front of his office with Gavin right next to him. What a view...

"Can you spare some time? This guy wants to talk to you," Captain Fowler says, pointing a thumb at Gavin.

Hank takes a glance at Gavin then narrows his eyes in suspicion. That motherfucker wants to talk to him? Something must be wrong.

After giving a little thought, Hank finally says, "Sure."

Hank wants to refuse but at the same time he is also curious.

"Go on then," Captain Fowler taps Gavin's back then goes back to his office.

"Wait here, Connor," Hank gets up from his seat, "I have to deal with that guy for a while. It won't be long."

"Got it," Connor replies with a smile.

It has been a minute and Hank still puts on his thinking face. He is trying to process what Gavin has explained to him; Gavin wants to be paired up with Connor... Hank wonders whether something is wrong with his hearing or Gavin perhaps has completely lost his marbles. He keeps staring at Gavin's face intently, as if the word he is looking for is, somehow, written there.

Gavin waits for another minute but nothing comes out from Hank's mouth. How much longer does he have to wait?

Getting impatient Gavin lets out a long sigh, "Do I have to repeat myself, old man? Which part of my words that you don't understand?"

"No need," Hank finally gives a respond, "I heard you."

"Good, then. Can I?"

"Heck, no."

Yeah, of course the answer would be no. Why would anyone in their right mind let Gavin to take Connor as his partner? After seeing how bad-tempered Gavin is, Hank does not want to take a risk. The android is not merely a partner for Hank. They are best buddies! Hank cares deeply for Connor and he will never forgive himself if something bad happens to his beloved android.

"Come on, Hank. Do me a favor just this once!" Gavin begs.

"No means no," Hank determines, "He's with me."

"You haven't even asked Connor about it," Gavin insists.

As immediate respond Hank rolls his eyes then shouts, "Hey, Connor!"

"What is it Lieutenant?" Connor's head pops out from behind his computer screen. While waiting for Hank, he was busy scanning some articles online about dog's behavior since he has become fond of Sumo lately.

"Your bro, Gavin, over here wants you to-"

"No, thank you," Connor instantly replies without hearing the full sentence. He pays his attention back to the articles.

There he goes, Gavin got his answer. It is clear that Connor does not want to get involved with Gavin.

"Connor, my man. I thought we have a bromance between us. Perhaps we can deepen our bond by being partners once in a while," Gavin acts friendly while approaching Connor. Hank tails him around to make sure that Gavin will not do any harm to Connor.

"I'm deeply sorry, Detective. I really want to help you, but I can't leave Hank alone," Connor apologizes politely, "What about your partner, RK900? What's wrong with him?"

"He hates me," Gavin gives a brief answer.

"Hmph, everybody hates you," and with that Hank directly gets a death glare from Gavin. "No offense. Just saying," Hank puts his hands up as a sign of peace.

"That android harasses me on daily basis. Every fucking day he harasses me and humiliates me!" Gavin aggressively run hands through his hair out of frustration, "Urrgghh! I can't take it anymore!"

"Well, that's because you're always being rude to him. You call him with bunch of unpleasant nicknames most of the times," says Hank obviously, "I can give you some lists like; dipshit, android asshole, annoying tin can, plastic prick, and then...what's the one that made him punched you on the stomach? "

"Walking dildo," Connor adds.

"Yeah, that," Hank laughs, "That one is the best. How did you come out with that?"

"What does that even mean?" Connor asks a question which makes both Gavin and Hank staring at him with a funny look on their face.

"Anyway..." Hank clears his throat and makes a way to change the subject, "My point is that you never call your partner with a proper name or refer him as a living being."

"Because he never acts like one! As if he doesn't have any emotion!" Gavin exclaims, "One day, I was chasing a suspect. I got her but then she pushed me too hard and I fell over in the middle of the busy street. I hurt one of my legs. My partner was supposed to help me, but no, he left me to chase after the fucking suspect. Luckily, I managed to get away before a truck almost hit me," the last statement makes Hank and Connor exchange looks. "Exactly, I was about to die back then! He left me to die! All he cares about is his goddamn mission!"

Gavin breaths heavily after he finished talking. He sits on top of Connor's desk then slouching down to rest. He covers his face with both hands. He seems very tired.

Looking at Gavin, Connor becomes worried. He is secretly analyzing Gavin's stress level.

[Level of Stress: 78%]

That is not good...

Connor thinks for a while then makes a conclusion that a way to help Gavin is to comfort him. So, he decides to give Gavin a light pat on the shoulder. Gavin flinches at the touch at first but then stays silent when Connor begins to rub his shoulder.

[Level of Stress: 42%]

It works. Gavin seems to calm down.

"I'm afraid that one day I might really die. I don't know how much longer I can hold on," Gavin lifts up his face to look at Connor, "I don't want to die... What should I do?"

"RK900 acts as whatever you want him to be. If you treat him as a machine, then he will act like one. He doesn't know how to be human because you never show him. You should give him a chance to change. Make him learn," Connor advices.

"I change him? Me?" Gavin is pointing at himself ironically.

"Everyone in this station barely has a chance to meet him. Meanwhile, you're with him almost every single day. He follows you around all the time. If there's someone who has to change him then that person must be you," Hank explains.

"It might be hard at first but why don't you start by being nice to him? For example, stop calling him with bad nicknames," Connor tries to reassure Gavin, "Who knows, maybe one day you'll even give him a proper name."

They are absolutely right. Gavin has to do it himself like it or not. His life depends on it.

"Alright..." after a consideration Gavin is convinced by Connor and Hank, "But you guys have to help me."

Gavin last sentence makes Hank curses and Connor chuckles in reaction.
