I'm back~ I'm sorry to keep you waiting. Enjoy this one!

Hank sees Gavin at his desk, sitting bleary-eyed. His eyes glaze over blankly and his head nods forward, almost lands on the table. Feeling concern, Hank decides to check on him.

"Hey," Hank gives a light tap on Gavin's back and makes him jolt awake. "I thought you're going for lunch."

"Well, I'm here aren't I?" he lets out a yawn then slouches.

"You skipped lunch?"

"No shit, Sherlock."

"What's the matter?"

"Nothing."

"Are you sure?"

"Well, I'm tired, Hank!" Gavin slams his fist down onto the table, boiling in anger. "No- I'm exhausted to be exact. Imagine that every day you wake up and you know that you're going to spend your day with an android who doesn't even give a shit to understand any of human emotions. Not even one bit!"

Hank only stares into the eyes burning with anger, and he falls silent.

The office also becomes quiet. All eyes are on Gavin.

Realizing the situation, Gavin hangs his head in shame.

"Sorry...," Gavin covers his eyes with a hand. "I shouldn't yell at you. You've done nothing wrong."

"It's my fault. I shouldn't pressure you in the first place," Hank takes a seat in front of Gavin. "It's alright, let it all out. I'll listen."

Gavin looks at Hank, feeling uncertain. But, fuck it anyway. He is so drained, so stressed.

Gavin takes a deep breath, ready to spill everything.

"When I started this job, I thought I had to do my best at anything, see all my tasks to the end, I was so enthusiastic. I will do anything to advance my career, but now I feel so empty. I've tried everything, really... I was rude and disrespectful, but then I swallowed my pride and turned to be nice to my partner just as you and Connor suggested. For months, I've tried so hard to be as human as I can be when I'm with him, but none of that matters. I feel like he's just using me to complete his mission. I'm nothing to him."

There... Gavin has declared his frustration. He scans Hank's face for a reaction but the Lieutenant is silent once again. He expects Hank to judge, mock, or belittle him but he does none of those things.

His silence is somehow comforting and speaks for itself, it is peaceful in a way where Gavin can feel that no matter what is happening, Hank is there for him.

"What about Connor?" Hank suddenly gives an unexpected question.

"Connor?"

"What do you think about him?"

Gavin's eyes immediately settle on Connor. The android gives him a big grin once they lock eyes. His mood is lifted up right away.

"Heh, he's not so bad," Gavin chuckles as he turns to Hank, "To be honest, at first I thought he doesn't feel emotions, he fakes them. He pretended to be my friend when he doesn't even know the meaning of the word."

"However, he seemed different every time I met him. No matter how bad I treated him, he became kinder," Gavin feels kind of guilty for bullying Connor back then. "At last, I realized he's actually being genuine, which is strange... I thought all androids are the same. He changed my mind."

"Yeah, I used to be like you. I was angry about emotionless beings that take orders without regard to lives. Then, Connor opened my eyes. He restored my faith in the world. I believed in him ever since," Hank smiles like it burst from within, showing his inner happiness. "I'm glad I had the chance to meet him. He made me think of Cole. I can learn to live again..for myself and for Cole..."

Mentioning his dead son, Hank is immersed in memories of him for a moment. At last... At last he can release his haunted past, let it float away.

"Sorry, I'm not great at the advice but I'm gonna be completely honest with you," Hank points at Connor, "That android has done more for me than most of the human beings in my life. It's ironic that I finally found my happiness in him...in an android."

"Maybe, just maybe, you could experience the same with your partner. You might not see it, but believe it or not, deep down RK900 is overwhelmed by his newfound emotions. He has a conflict between his actions and feelings. So, just give him more time," advices Hank.

"And if it still doesn't work?" asks Gavin.

"At least you got me and Connor," Hank answers back.

"Wow... I must be the luckiest man in the world," says Gavin sarcastically.

Both of them laugh. Hate to admit, but Gavin feels relieved after talking to Hank.

"Awe... You finally found yourself some new friends, Gav. How cute~" out of nowhere, a clear high singsong voice of a woman rings out beside them. "I thought Chris and I are your only friends. I'm jealous."

"Hi, Tina," Hank greets the officer who just joined in.

"Heya, Lieutenant," Tina greets back cheerfully.

"What do you want?" Gavin turns sour facing his friend.

"Oh, right.. I was about to tell you," Tina leans on Gavin's desk, "Your android got into a trouble with some protesters."

"What?!"

"I saw him being surrounded by them. I thought he would defend himself but he did nothing. He just stood still while holding a box of pizza as if it's the most fragile thing in the world. What's up with that?" Tina laughs as she finished explaining.

"My lunch..." Gavin mumbles.

"Your what?" questions Tina.

"Never mind," Gavin dodges the question, "More importantly... Why didn't you help him??"

"Not my android, not my responsibility," she chimes.

"Seriously?" Gavin grabs Tina's arm."You're coming with me."

"What? Why?? Noooo...!" Tina whines.

Hank smiles to himself as he watches Tina being dragged outside the station by Gavin, not aware that Connor is standing right next to him.

"You lost," Connor mentions the bet that they made months ago. "Gavin has managed to change as I predicted."

"Yeah, yeah," Hank grumbles, "I'll buy you some new biocomponents and stocks of thirium."

"And...?" the android pries.

"And a new toy for Sumo."

Connor squeezes Hank's shoulder while beaming with joy, "Thank you, Hank."

Hank ruffles Connor's hair in return, "You're welcome, you silly android."

***

A little note if you don't know who Tina and Chris are since I mention them in my story:

-Tina Chen is the officer who is seen talking to Gavin in the break room when Gavin asks Connor to make him a coffee in the game.

-Officer Chris Miller actually appears often in the game if you pay attention lol XD . One of the appearances is in the Eden Club episode; he is seen at the crime scene with Gavin.
