I woke up to someone nudging my arm. Half asleep, I opened one of my eyes, to see David smiling at me.I instantly shot up looking around. I was still on his sofa, but it was dark out.
"It's 1 in the morning, do you wanna just stay here?" He asked, sitting up on his sofa.
I wasn't sure what to do. I didn't want to make him drive me back, but I didn't really fancy getting an Uber by myself at this time, especially seeing I didn't know the area.
"If that's okay?" I answered, slightly waking up.
He chuckled and stood up, holding out his hands to pull me up with. "Come on, we'll get you a change of clothes."
David pulled me up and I followed him down his large hallway, different award frames decorated the walls, I couldn't see properly because it was dark but they looked quite impressive.
He turned left into a room I assumed was his bedroom and turned the light on. The room was decorated quite basically. White walls, a black king sized bed and a few pictures on a white bedside table. He walked over to a door in the bedroom that lead to a walk in wardrobe. I followed him in and looked at the array of black clothing.
"Scared of colour?" I joked.
He chuckled and pulled out a large black t-shirt that read 'David's vlogs' in the style of the friends logo and passed it to me.
I took the top and gave him a look. "Conceited much?"
He rolled his eyes at me and walked out of the room.
"Just put it on!" He called out.
I was glad David didn't offer me any bottoms to put on to sleep in. Not in a suggestive way, but I honestly preferred just sleeping in a large t-shirt. Otherwise I'd get too hot and then not sleep properly. Plus, it was nice to let my legs be free after wearing jeans in this heat all day.
I walked out of the closet after I'd done changing and jokingly twirled like I was in a fashion show. "What do you think?"
David laughed and crossed his arms. "Beautiful."
I put my clothes in a neat pile by the wardrobe door and walked over to the bed.
"You sleep in here, I'll sleep on the sofa" David offered.
I shook my head, "no. It's your house. I'll sleep on the sofa"
David rolled his eyes and sat on the bed. "Holly, I'm not letting you sleep on the sofa"
I mimicked his actions and sat on the bed too. "Well I'm not letting you sleep on the sofa"
David smirked at me and gave me the answer we both wanted. "Looks like we're both in the bed then"
My stomach starting doing little butterflies again as I watched David get undressed. I tried to make it so it wasn't noticeable, but I couldn't help but having a cheeky look, or five.
His body was just what I liked in a boy, not too muscular, but not too out of shape. He was perfectly in the middle. I climbed into the bed and sat slightly up, just to show I wasn't ready to sleep yet. David joined me in the bed after getting undressed, leaving him in just some black boxers, and sat up the same way as me.
We spent the next two hours talking about our lives, joking about how I stalked him to L.A and our upbringings. I was surprised to learn he was originally from Scandinavia, and grew up in Chicago. It was so nice to finally be able to talk to a boy about something meaningful, without it being obvious the main goal was to sleep with me afterwards. When I spoke, David was truly listening and taking in my words. When he spoke, he spoke with passion and intelligence.
If I said the whole Liza situation wasn't playing on my mind throughout the conversation, I would be lying. I just hadn't found the right moment to bring it up. Also, I didn't know if it was my place to ask. This was the first time we'd actually sat down and spoke one to one. I didn't want to ruin it by bringing up his ex.
David put his hand on my crossed leg and looked at me. "What are you thinking about?"
I smiled nervously and leaning back into the pillow. "If I ask you something, I don't want it to upset you or you think I'm nosy. It's just been playing on my mind"
David looked slightly concerned, mostly intrigued. "Okay?"
I sat up and turned so I was sitting face on to him. He put both of his hands on my knees, it felt like I was talking to someone I'd known for years, not a couple of months.
I took a deep breath and started, "when we first met, you were hesitant to tell me about Liza. Then, when I did find out, you seemed disappointed to have to call her your girlfriend. I know you had to lie to your...fans?" I giggled, thinking of David having fans was weird to me. "Anyway, why did you lie to me?"
I sat nervously awaiting David's answer. He didn't take his hands off of my knees, meaning he couldn't have been too angry, but he did break eye contact.
David signed and I immediately regretted asking. "Don't worry, it was stupid forget it."
I went to move back to the other side of the bed but David stopped me. I sat back down in front of him. He looked me dead in the eye and opened his mouth to speak.
"If I tell you, do you promise not to be upset?"
I hesitated with my answer. I couldn't promise not to feel something, but wanting the know the answer, I agreed. "Yes?"
With that, David leaned forward and kissed me. It took me a moment to realise what was going on, but by then David had already pulled away.
"That's why."
