Kastor 》 Chapter 13

I growl as Kastor shows up in front of my mate.

      Zelda growls too."Kastor, what are you doing here?"

      He shows off his fangs with a smile. "I bet on the Ranger here to win, although I didn't bet on Xenos, I hoped he would die."

      She sneers, "And here I thought you were civilized."

      He lets out a chuckle. "I'm a vampire, we are not a civilized people. For Goddess' sake we kill humans just to eat."

      "Why are you here?" Zelda asks.

      He smiles, "I came to retrieve my mate."

      She rolls her eyes. "I've already told you Kastor, I'm mates to Xenos."

      "Do I see a mark?" he asks and looks at her neck sarcastically. "Nope."

      I sadly look at the ground as I remember her saying no to me marking her. I can't retort because I'm still in wolf form but I quietly whine out to my mate. She looks back at me and her eyes soften. She starts to walk over to my cage when Kastor grasps her arm.

      Snarling, I bang my head on the cage door, and bite it, trying to get to her.

      "You're too cute," Kastor swoons, "- You think you're going to save the day again. Oh Xenos, you have much to learn." I bare my canines and lick them, showing him I meant business.

      Zelda punches him in the arm and Kastor lets go. "Get away from me."

      He growls, "Do not test my patience dear."

      "I will test it as much as I like," she back-sasses. I smirk, that's my girl.

      Kastor looks angry but then looks at me and a devilish smile appears on his lips. "Let's make this official, shall we Zelda?" She looks at him in confusion but not before he's sunk his fangs into her neck. She pushes him away instantly but what's done is done, I can already feel the mate bond weakening.

      My Zelda turns and looks at me with sorrow filled eyes.

      "Xenos," she calls out, and reaches a hand to me. I whimper and put my head to the bars. The mate bond is hanging by a mere thread as of now as Kastor pulls her to his waist.

      "Let's go, dearest," Kastor says with venom dripping from his words.

      "Xenos, I love you," she croons, and then the mate bond snaps and she's not mine anymore.

      The mate bond is gone and I look up at Kastor to see love and adoration in his eyes. I look back at Alpha Xenos to see pain and rage in his eyes. I furrow my eyebrows and give him a confused look. I could've sworn I felt something for him a second ago.

      He's still in his wolf form and can't talk to us but he starts to whine as Kastor leads me away with his hand around my waist.

      I tug on my mates sleeve to catch his attention. "Shouldn't we let Xenos out?" I ask. "He'll have to go through the fights again if not." I shiver at the thought of the battle I had to go through just a few hours ago.

      "No," Kastor growls lowly, "- let him perish." I nod, not wanting to disobey my mate. Before I can take one last glace at Xenos, Kastor starts running and I follow his lead.

      We speed through the forest and the farther we go the more I don't feel. My mind is drawing a blank at every turn I take, my body numb, and my heart is sore. My legs move on instinct to run but it feels like I'm stuck in time, never to leave this one spot. I'm frozen in time, seemingly to never continue, my heart slowly turning to nothing.
