Previously on To Know You...
"Y/n,
I slipped this in your pocket when you hugged me
goodbye this morning, and I wrote this note while
you were getting dressed. How did I know you
needed money? You were going with Yurio :)
Courtesy of your favorite uncles :) :) :) :))
-Viktor and Yuuri"I smiled and slipped the note in my pocket, reminding myself to thank the two of them when we got back, then plucked out 1700 yen and slapped it on the stand. My eyes scanned all of the watches on display, until I found myself pointing at one that, when closed, looked silver, but was a deep blue all on the inside with gold numbers and the simple jet black hands. The man stayed quiet as he picked up the watch and wrapped it in tissue paper, then handed it to me and slipped the yen under the stand. As we walked to another, he nodded at us and bent down behind his stand. I slipped the watch and my extra yen in one pocket as my eyes returned to the lady at the games and electronics stand.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My smile faltered upon looking to her, but tried to stay up. I looked down at the camera and hummed to myself, before sighing quietly. With a slightly shaky free hand, I reached up and pinched Yuri's elbow. He glanced down with just his eyes, and hummed sharply. "Hey, so- aah- the girl, the, the woman, lady, who gave me the camera, she said I could keep it for free." I cleared my throat, feeling awkward and strangely nervous.
"Congratulations," he said in what I thought was a sarcastic voice, but wasn't entirely sure. I decided to play it safe and assume he was being sarcastic, so I rolled my eyes and huffed.
"She said I could keep it for free, only if you and I took a picture together while we're here."
We stopped in front of our last vendor, which seemed to be selling food. Yuri sounded more confused than annoyed, but admittedly sounded a bit annoyed. "Why the hell does she need a picture of us? That's creepy." He picked up a peach and rolled it around on his hand.
"I don't know," I whined, sounding a bit defensive. "She thinks you and I are in a relationship or whatever, and when she asked me and I denied she thought I was just being sheepish or whatever or hiding my feelings or whatever." I crossed my arms. The longer I talked, the more defensive I felt like I had to be.
"Well, according to that, I've made two conclusions," he nodded to himself as he put the peach back and picked up a box of probably-melted, chocolate-covered marshmallows. "Number one, you say 'whatever' a lot when you get upset. Number two," he snickered, "it looks like you're gonna spend some more money than you thought." I furrowed my brow and slapped his chest with the back of my hand, snatching the box from him.
"What? Why? Are you really so stubborn that you'll refuse to take one picture with me so I can get a free camera?" Yuri nodded, and told me that what I said was pretty accurate. "You're a jerk. Just take the picture. I'll probably end up throwing it away anyway so it's not like it'll be blowing around Hasetsu, whispers of you dating a homeless girl tickling the wind." He snatched the box back from me and seemed to glare at me from the side. I couldn't tell if it was his typical glare or if it was actually because of something I'd said or done. "What?"
"You're not homeless, so don't say that you are. You live with your uncles, under a roof, with food on the table. You make it sound like just because you ran away from your father means you're living on the streets with rats in your hair." He reached into my jacket pocket and pulled out my wad of yen, taking god-knows-how-much of it and handing it over to the man behind the stand. "For the marshmallows. Thanks."
My fingers drummed over my arm and I rolled my eyes as he casually shoved the rest of my yen back into my pocket. "Yeah, okay, whatever. You used my money for those melted calories so take a picture with me now. Then you can keep acting like you're too cool for anything." Yuri sighed along with me once I lifted the Polaroid, aiming it at us. I nearly dropped it when I felt his hands on my shoulders, and I glanced back at him. "What are you doing?"
He lifted his hand and turned my head back to face the camera again. "The lady only wants us to take the picture because she thinks we're dating. Might as well act like it, because if we look like we hate each other in the picture, she won't honor the deal. So shut up and act like you're happy to be near me."
"Look who's talking. You seem like you'd rather lick the ground right now than take this stupid picture." He tilted his hand to the side and flicked my neck, causing me to yelp and bow my head, but also causing my finger to press the button and capture the moment. The camera flashed, and out came the picture. I hoped with everything I had the picture hadn't come out correctly for whatever reason, but after only a few seconds, the white inside the border began turning to faint color. "I hate you so much at this moment. Why would you do that?"
"It got you to hurry up and snap the picture, and I can bet you don't look as angry as you wanted." He pulled himself away from me and loosely crossed his arms.
"I'm annoyed, not angry. And it's your fault I'm so annoyed. Brat." I went to blindly smack his chest again with my free hand, but he flicked it away and hummed quietly when he saw it retreat. I looked at my hand and shook it out before looking at the picture, which had clearly developed by now. "I hate this picture," I muttered, getting ready to head to the trash can.
"What, I don't get to see it? Let me see." He grabbed my elbow and reached for it, but I held it away.
"No! It's stupid! You didn't even want to take it in the first place so why do you need to see it?" I whined like a child while I did my best to keep him at bay and as far away from the photo as I could have him.
"Because I'm in it, and I'm a very curious person." He said it so seriously, I almost wanted to laugh. But I didn't, and instead, I lifted up my leg and pushed it into his stomach to shove him farther away. He grabbed my leg and turned away, pulling me along until I lost my balance and fell. The only thing keeping my upper body from touching the ground was Yuri's grip on my arm while I kept the Polaroid cradled to my chest. "Just show me the picture, dammit!"
"No! I'd rather roll around on the ground than show it to you." I grumbled and stuck my tongue at him defiantly.
"Suit yourself," he sighed and let go of me entirely, causing me to yelp as the rest of me fell to the ground. He bent down and plucked the picture out of my hand, then took a step away from me. "Have fun rolling around in that." Quieter, I heard him mumble, "Bitch."
I sat up and brushed my shoulders off, glaring at him. He remained unfazed as he looked at the picture, no interest in his eyes whatsoever. "Jerk."
The picture in Yuri's hands had the typical, white Polaroid border, and inside it, an image of Yuri looking directly at the camera with his eyebrows raised and his hands still planted on my shoulders. I, however, did not look ready for the picture, as my head was bowed and my eyes were squeezed shut, and my mouth open mid-yelp.
I don't know why I was hesitating to tell that woman Yuri and I aren't together. We aren't, we never will be, and I'd rather go back home to my father than even think about being with him.

Oop. Well, I guess that's an ending.
I've totally murdered this story and the characters, so- sorry. I don't know where I wanted this chapter to go so sorry if it sucks. Hopefully the next chapter will be better. And hopefully by then Yuri will be acting like Yuri because I'll have watched the anime again.
I know I said I'd have more time to write since it's summer- but boy was I wrong. We're going on trip after trip and I'm doing summer assignment after summer assignment and I'm such a mess. Like this story-
sHoutouts, because I still like those. This chapter is gonna go tooooooooooooooooooo... @Crystal_Wolfy - because they were the only one to comment on the last chapter, haha ^^;
Let's hope that this story gets better soon, guys. And that the chapters get longer :x
Feedback and suggestions always appreciated!
Love ya kiwis <3
