Stefan:
"I'm gonna need real ideas, Damon"
Stefan Salvatore sighed, his phone held up to his ear as he made his way through Klaus' mansion. It was uncomfortably large, empty, considering the man lived alone. He knew however, that he needed to find the hunter's sword; Caroline had told him that Tyler was planning on taking out the original hybrid by the end of the night.
He needed to find the cure for Elena, that was his priority, even if it meant making a move against Klaus himself.
Stefan eventually made his way into an ornately decorated room, an old trunk in the corner catching his eye. He lifted it onto the table, opening it carefully as his brother continued talking.
"Here's two," Damon replied. "Kill Tyler before he goes to Klaus or, since Klaus has suddenly become the MVP in our relay race for the cure, tell him about the hybrids and he'll kill Tyler."At this point, Stefan's eyes widened slightly as the seemingly cluttered contents of the trunk revealed a large amount of letters, surrounded by boxed oddities and trinkets. A small folder lay on top, thick and heavy, with a gold 'A' on the front, shining in the sunlight that was streaming from the window. He opened it tentatively, confusion washing over him at the sight of more, yet surprisingly organised letters.
Eventually, Stefan took a deep breath, shaking his head as he up the first piece of paper carefully.
"Nobody's killing Tyler" the younger Salvatore said distractedly down the line. All the other letters in the trunk were masked in a thin layer of dust, but this one, that his fingers were gently unfolding, was centuries old, and yet clearly recently disturbed.Niklaus,
I am uncertain of what to write to you, as I know that you (and your siblings) must be furious with me. But I had no choice. If that letter can lead me to Luther, then I must find him. He will not stop until he has the power to kill you, and I will not allow that.
I followed the mountain pass for twelve days, and I found nothing. And even in the villages, no one had seen or heard a thing. He must be compelling people as he travels, I shall try to keep you informed of what I find.
I know you will want to come after me, but I urge you not to. I have to do this alone, please understand. It pained me more than I can say to leave that night... but I was reluctant and afraid, and it would have been all too easy for you to persuade me to stay. Regardless, I will be home before the winter snowfall, and perhaps then we can return to shouting at one another.
Ti penso ogni giorno, cara mia.
Love,
Adriana.
PS - Elijah, as I know you will read this anyways... please keep your reckless brother from following me - I am putting my faith in you.Stefan blinked in surprise beneath furrowed brows as he skimmed over the letter again, the familiar name of 'Adriana' was coming up again and again. And with what Damon told him... it couldn't be a coincidence that she had shown up in town.
"Hello?" His brother said again, trying to catch his distracted siblings attention. "Stefan?"
Stefan finally put down the letter, remembering his brother on the phone.
"Look..." he started. "I know it's a touchy subject, but do you know where Elena is today?"
"I think she's running around" Damon replied, pausing slightly. "...trying to figure out how to deprogram Jeremy."
"How'd she take it last night?" The younger Salvatore asked in concern. "You telling her to stay away from you?"There was another long pause then. No matter how he felt about Elena, finding the cure and breaking her sire bond was all that mattered. It just meant that he knew how hard this must be for his own brother.
"Not well" Damon admits at last.
"You okay?" he presses. Acutely aware of how difficult everything must've been.
"Peachy" his elder brother quips.
