Rebekah, Stefan and I were working together to find the cure, each for our own reasons. We were hunting for Qetsiyah's headstone, something that Professor Shane had insisted to be necessary to get to the cure. We knew he had it, it was now just a task of finding it amongst the clutter in his office.

It was a boring, tedious task. And yet, we needed something to level the playing field. Rebekah had always been one to grow bored easily however, so upon finding some herbs shoved in one of the desk drawers, she grinned at me, excitedly, before turning to Stefan.
"Exactly what you need" she smirked, "The professor's stash of herbs."
"Not interested" he replied, earning an eyeroll from the blonde.
"What happened to you?" She asked, tilting her head slightly, "You were so much fun in the twenties."
"I was a psychotic killer with no emotions in the 1920's" Stefan replied bluntly, crossing his arms over his chest as he glared back at her.

At this point, I was still rummaging through one of the many filing cabinets, uncertain of how to feel about the direction the conversation was taking. There was something between them, to say the least.
"You may have been a killer, but you were far from emotionless, Stefan." Rebekah smiled then, knowingly, stepping towards him. "You had a blast. I know you remember. The jazz, the booze, our little table at Gloria's... Don't make me compel it out of you."

I stood up then, turning to face the both of them.
"Can we cool it with the sexual tension, please?" I asked dryly, as Stefan glared back at me pointedly. "I don't particularly fancy being a third wheel today."
Rebekah however, just continued smirking. "Oh hush, Adriana," she drawled out turning to face me. "I had to live with you and Nik for nearly six centuries, after all."

At that, Stefan snorted, shaking his head and laughing as he looked between us.
"They really that bad?" he asked with a grin.
"Horrendous, and loud to say the least" the original confirmed, still smiling, as Stefan laughed again, "Vamp hearing didn't help either."

I couldn't help but laugh at Rebekah's comment, despite the blush washing over my face.
"Right" I scoffed, "Coming from the queen of subtlety."
"Ooh" Stefan cut in teasingly, grinning.
"You know, we really don't need three people looking for one headstone" I said then with a sigh.
"Oh come on, Adriana," Stefan replied, "I thought we were about to start having some fun, right Rebekah?"
"Exactly" she nodded, clearly glad she had convinced him, "If Stefan Salvatore, of all people, can establish that fun is, in fact, possible, I'm sure you can."
"Maybe another time" I smiled, "Save some of those herbs for me... I'm going to head back to Mystic Falls, see if I can find anything else out."

And with that, I left, letting the two of them continue without me. In truth, it was rare that Rebekah got the chance to do what she wanted, to have her fun with somebody she liked, without her brother there to interfere. Even at a time such as this, with the hunt for the cure and threats everywhere, I wanted to offer her just a little bit of respite.

Stefan:

As Adriana left, Stefan Salvatore turned back to the original, who was still smirking at him knowingly, with a bag of Shane's herbs in her hand. He sighed, before nodding. Taking the bag from her as she made her away around the desk.
"You know, uh... for a supernatural hunter, she really isn't-" he paused then, cutting off as he struggled for the right word.
"Scary?" Rebekah finished, "That's because you haven't seen her fight, Stefan. That's one girl I wouldn't recommend pissing off, believe me."
"Huh," he replied, opening the bag of herbs,  "That makes her thing with Klaus, of all people, even more confusing."
