"So..."

I started, turning to face Stefan Salvatore. "Let me get this straight, the love of your life, this Elena, is sired to your brother?"
"Well..." Stefan drawled out, taking another sip of whiskey. "That barely scratches the surface, but sure."

Stefan had invited me round to 'chat.' It was late, the week after the Winter Wonderland event, and I had successfully managed to avoid Klaus since then. Now however, I was sat in The Boarding House, talking things through with the vampire.

Apparently, he had a proposition for me.

"I don't get it" I sighed, after a moment, as Stefan held out a glass of bourbon towards me. I took it, hesitantly, before taking a sip. "I mean, if she's sired to him, how does she know that her feelings are real?"
"She doesn't" Stefan shrugged, pouring himself a glass. "None of us do."

I stopped then, suddenly feeling sorry for him. Something I never expected to feel. This was the girl that he loved. And he was losing her to his brother, of all people.
"But... enough about Elena" Stefan cut in, pulling me from my thoughts. "If I get that pity look from you again, I'll probably combust."
"Sorry" I winced, flushing slightly with embarrassment. He smiled at that, warmly, shaking his head in amusement.
"It's cool," he said, making his way over to the sofa. "But, uh... what about you and Klaus? There's gotta be a story behind that, huh?"

I glanced at him pointedly then, before sitting down opposite him heavily.
"Me and Niklaus?" I asked, quirking a brow at him.
"Yeah" Stefan shrugged. "Aren't you two, like, a thing?"
"No" I said, a little too quickly. "Definitely not."
"Uh-huh" Stefan nodded, smirking in disbelief. "Not what I've heard. Rebekah said you had this big 'on again off again' deal."
"Yes, well... Rebekah always did like to exaggerate" I hummed, before taking another sip of whiskey.

Stefan said nothing at that. He looked back at me, a bemused, disbelieving smile playing on his lips. As questionable as trusting Rebekah may be, he still knew that what I was saying was far from the truth. And yet, he couldn't quite bring himself to pry on the matter, knowing all too well the complications that any relations to the originals may convey.

I continued looking back at him for a moment, an expectant silence, until I broke eye contact in defeat.
"Are you going to tell me why I'm here or not, Stefan?" I asked amusedly. "Because I doubt it was to bond over our equally tragic romantic lives." He smiled back at me, slightly smug as he shot a knowing look in return.
"Sure" he nodded, pausing, thinking of the right words to say.

"I... need your help, Adriana."

"Interesting" I said lowly, leaning forward in my seat with excitement, placing my own glass down infront of me. "I have a feeling this is to do with the cure, am I right?"
"Ah, yeah... Klaus told me that you knew The Five?" Stefan noted, looking to me for confirmation.
"I... trained under them" I nodded, my elbows propped on my knees. "My Father wanted me to become a hunter. He believed that one with magic would be unstoppable..." I paused then, biting my lip. "Even against Originals."
"Your Father?" he pressed, squinting at me curiously. "He wanted you to hunt Originals?"
"Niklaus, to be specific" I replied tensely, fingers fiddling infront of me. "But... I'm sure I don't need to tell you how badly that went."

"Oh..." Stefan stopped, dark brows pinching together in realisation. Uncomfortably, I shifted in my seat, not wanting to say anymore about either of them. Stefan seemed to sense my reluctance however, and awkwardly apologised, before moving on.
"We both want the cure for our own reasons, right?" Stefan asked. "Whatever they may be, if we help eachother... we can get to it first." He paused then, hesitantly studying my face for a reaction. "Together."
