Jungkook had met Jimin six- almost seven years ago. He was 17, almost finished with the hell most called high school. Jungkook didn't have many friends, most acquaintances he talked to once for a pencil, however, he was popular with men and women alike due to his looks. He just didn't have that static connection with anyone. Not until he met Jimin.

Jimin was in college, they had met through community service Jimin was currently doing around Jungkook's high school. Though he mostly volunteered at the shelter, taking care of dogs, Jungkook saw him from time to time.

Jungkook wasn't the brightest during that time, developing symptoms of depression, he went to the shelter a lot to help himself smile through dogs. He ended up volunteering in the shelters after school.

That's how Jimin and Jungkook started talking to each other.

Right as the school bell dismissed the students, Jungkook ran to the shelter. He would always arrive heaving, clutching his sides, giving Jimin a weak smile as he hands Jungkook an apron.

He seemed like a nice, quiet man. Dark-haired, charismatic with sun-kissed skin. He smiled a lot and brought as much smiles to Jungkook's face as the puppies did.

Then one day, as they sat in the grass with the dogs, Jimin informed Jungkook about this job. The information was obscure, but it paid good money.

Jungkook needed the money, considering the offer for many weeks. He needed it for his mom, who lay near death on a hospital bed if she doesn't get surgery soon. Jungkook soon agreed, Jimin giving him a bright smile as he wrapped his arms around the shorter man. Jimin informed it was a delivery job. Though Jungkook still didn't have a driver's license, Jimin asked him to get one, which he did.

Jimin ordered to handle the package with caution and never look inside.

It should've sent red flags waving in front of Jungkook, though he didn't regard the situation.

He delivered packages at night to different apartments, or houses- large, expensive houses- for about a month. Until Jungkook opened a box one obscure night. What he found inside were multiple packets of drugs, illegal, most likely.

He didn't finish his deliveries that night.

The day after, he didn't talk to anyone, avoiding the routine people who tried to greet him in the hallways. Right after the bell rang, he took the bus home.

Jungkook had this overwhelming sense of guilt. He didn't know what he was doing, and he had used the money like any other.

And that static spark he had with Jimin... Just sort of- disappeared.

It continued for at least a week. Avoiding people in school and taking the bus home right as the bell chimed throughout the school.

Jimin visited him one night. He didn't look furious, unlike what Jungkook had expected. Instead, he pulled Jungkook into an embrace, rambling on how he worried about Jungkook and was sorry for lying.

Jungkook was afraid.

Instead of snapping at Jungkook, Jimin offered him something else. It wasn't much of a job. But more like protection. From Jimin? A gang? Jungkook knew he shouldn't. He didn't want to! He kicked out Jimin that night.

He didn't see Jimin for at least another year.

Graduating from high school, Jungkook stood among the graduating crowd, looking down at his feet, clenching his fists by his side. He expected no one to show up. His mom didn't make it through surgery, his dad was nowhere to be found. Though, as he glanced up, he recognized a familiar man sitting in the back. It was Jimin though he had dyed his hair to this silver color. He smiled as Jungkook spotted him, waving lightly.
