11-98 Namjoon

Right when Jungkook left Taehyung, he felt like breaking down. Jimin is gone, and now Taehyung wanted him to leave.

Everything was his fault, if he hadn't left, Jimin would still be alive. Yoongi didn't have to go through a tremendous amount of pain he's experienced through the short ten months. Namjoon's relationship with Jin and Yoongi wouldn't have been ruined. And Taehyung wouldn't have hated him as he does now.

He never specifically said it, however, Jungkook could always tell how Taehyung felt towards a specific person.

And now, Jungkook was alone once more in the airport, waiting for his flight and dreading to step onto the plane.

Jungkook didn't scroll through his phone, didn't fidget in his seat. He sat there, staring at his hands, quiet and still.

A tall man sat next to him, panting and trying to catch his breath.

"Detective?" Jungkook arched an eyebrow, facing Namjoon whose face was red and out of breath from running. "What are you doing here?"

"I wanted to-" Namjoon huffed, holding up a hand as he swallowed. "I wanted to catch you before you leave."

"Detective, if you still want to arrest me, I-"

"Not that, you idiot!" Namjoon reddened when people around him turned to his direction, raising their eyebrows as Namjoon cleared his throat. "I'm not here to arrest you."

"You're not?" Jungkook furrowed his eyebrows.

"No," Namjoon rolled his eyes. "I'm here to say goodbye, but apparently I'm too early."

"Pardon?"

Namjoon shook his head, letting out a breathy laugh. "I don't understand how you became a detective..." Namjoon slapped his forehead when Jungkook still didn't understand. "It's supposed to be me chasing after you as you head to your flight and- Oh for fuck's sake, nevermind! I'm just here to fucking say goodbye!"

"Oh," Jungkook's eyes were wide, surprised yet overjoyed.

Jungkook perked up when his flight was called, standing up along with Namjoon.

"Hold on, I didn't get to say goodbye, yet," Namjoon crossed his arms, stopping Jungkook from continuing. Jungkook stared at his partner, waiting for the older to continue. "First, I want to know why you're returning to New Jersey when this case is finally over."

Jungkook sighed, nodding. "Detective, I've already caused too much trouble in LA and what, I've only been here for five, six months? If I hadn't hidden from Jimin, Yoongi wouldn't have met Hoseok and your relationship with Yoongi and Jin wouldn't need to recover. I've already destroyed too much and I don't want to harm anymore."

Namjoon furrowed his eyebrows, frowning.

"Jungkook, I'm sorry," Namjoon apologized. "I know I've been too hard on you for... five and a half months and while those were the toughest five months ever... I couldn't have finished this case without you. And I wanted to say thank you as well before you leave."

"Thank you, Detective-"

"Namjoon."

"What?" Jungkook arched an eyebrow.

"You can call me Namjoon," Namjoon held out a hand. Right as Jungkook shook his hand, Namjoon pulled him forward, hugging the younger man.

"Shit, I'll miss you, kid," Namjoon smiled, pulling away from his partner. "I hope to see you again. As you said, maybe as partners, or in different cases."

Jungkook nodded, a smile on his face. "Thank you Detec- Namjoon."

Someone called Jungkook's flight once more, Namjoon stepping out of Jungkook's way.

"Have a nice flight, Kook," Namjoon patted Jungkook's back. "I'll miss you."

"I'll miss you too, Namjoon," Jungkook's new smile was brighter, walking away from Namjoon and towards the airplane. As he stepped onto the escalator, he turned back to Namjoon who smiled and waved a small goodbye.

He returned the gesture, stepping off the escalator and leaving.

For once, he was... happy... to some extent at least. He saw something brighter when he comes back. At least, when he comes back, he has someone to come back to.
