(Name) Point of View

Everything seemed to be going smoothly this morning as me and Connor exited the camper. We both matched a bit, him seeming more like a typical tourist dad and I snickered at the thought. What really got me was that Connor and Hank wore the exact same thing today and I couldn't contain any of it as I laughed uncontrollably, that is, until Carmen came in.

That didn't last long because me and Carmen laughed together, the creases around her eyes crunching gently and giving her a kind look. Almost like a mother would laugh while the world allowed her to get older, she stayed as beautiful as a delicate flower.

After that, we came to where we are now: a restaurant.

"So Hank, you still decided to stay in the same outfit Connor has?" I ask teasingly and he crosses his arms defensively as he gives me a serious stare. "Well I ain't changing out of it one bit. If anyone would change out of it, it should be him" he said, gesturing to Connor. "I'm afraid I can't do that, Hank" Connor said as me and Carmen shared a small giggle amongst ourselves. I took a drink of lemonade, savoring the refreshing taste of the liquid

"Like father like son" Carmen said and I choked on my lemonade a bit and watched Hank's reaction as he seemed emotionless. I worried a bit until he smiled and put his hand on Connor's shoulder, giving it a squeeze. "Yeah, I guess you could say that. Like father, like son" he said and I relaxed, Connor noticing and gently nudging my shoulder.

The waiter came to our table, asking us if we we are ready to order our food. Connor leaned over and whispered to me as Hank and Carmen spoke. "You seemed nervous a bit, (Name). Are you alright?" He asked and I nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine. I just didnt know how Hank would have taken that wording, see as he lost his-" "Miss, are you ready to order?" The waiter asked me and I nodded.

"I'll have the Cemita and Milanesa dish" I reply, with a smile. (I really want to try that dish. I've heard from a pen pal that it's a bomb af dish). "Ah, excellent choice miss. And you? Sir?" The waiter asked Connor and he replied.

"I'll take the empanadas" he replied as the waiter nodded. "Very well. While I'm giving the chef your orders, would you like a refill ma'am?" He asked Carmen and she nodded. He took her cup and just as fast as he was gone, he came right back and gave her the drink she had.

"So, (Name) I've noticed you've grown on Carmen already" Hank commented and I smiled as I nodded. "Yes... She is a very lovely woman, and I am so happy you have this woman in your life" I smile as Connor just listens in. "That's fantastic, I'm glad you've found someone else to be around in your life" Connor praised as I laughed nervously and then took a sip of my lemonade.

Afterwards, our food came and we ate. Of course, Connor insisting that we do what couples do and feed each other... Though he doesn't exactly... Eat per say, he still insisted. The sparkle in his eyes at being a couple and doing all that cute nonsense made me unable to resist and so we did it. Hank and Carmen also did it as well, us sharing a couple laughs and joking like a family would. I was happy to finally experience the family I never had, finding happiness where I was currently. I could see that Hank also felt this way, savoring the sweet memory of being around people you love and away from all the problems life held.

After we got done eating, we decided to go for a walk around town. A nice opportunity for Hank to stretch his legs, Carmen to bond with me over things and for me and Connor to look around at the sights and enjoy our time here. "What do you think about visiting a fiesta this weekend?" Carmen asked me and I nodded. "Yes, I would love to go to a fiesta" I reply happily and she smiles.

"Well, would you like to go shopping for a fiesta worthy dress? Or do you perhaps have one stored away?" Carmen asked and I thought about it. "I do not have a fiesta worthy dress, though we can go shopping. Hopefully it won't put a dent in our savings" I reply as the Hank looks confused on what we were talking about. "I heard something about a party?" Hank questioned and Connor explained while me and Carmen talked about what to do and what to wear.

So far, it was more of an adult birthday party that her nephew was throwing for his twenty second birthday. I was generally surprised that Carmen actually insisted on going to a party like this, but then again I wasn't. As the saying goes 'Good girls are just Bad girls who haven't been caught'. I suppose this term applies in this situation and Carmen walks us towards the downtown area where a shop full of dresses of all sorts lie within.

"Dress shopping?" Hank asked in horror, making Carmen grab his hand and direct him towards the entrance. "Yes, yes! (Name) needs a very stylish dress for the part this weekend" Carmen says as my idea was to wear the most plain and least revealing outfit there was in order to cover up my... Insecurity with showing off my body. Carmen dragged me away from the plain dresses and to some dresses that said 'I am the queen of sexy, bow to me' but I was feeling like 'I am a meek peasant who is badass but doesn't have the looks for it'. That was me, yet she insisted.

She pulled out a black double slit dress with a reasonable v line. I wanted to run away, now knowing what horror I've put myself through. "I-I don't think I should wear that... It's-" "Nonsense! When I was younger, I was the dance queen of this town. Every party was my oyster. My party animal may have grown old, but that doesn't mean I won't help you with yours" She smiled as I (blushed uncontrollably/ avoided all eye contact).

"I can't... I'm not fit for this..." I argue, the embarrassment creeping in as Connor grabs the dress and examines it. "It appears your size. Let's at least try it on?" Connor suggests his eyes never leaving mine. "Fine... I'll try on the dress" I sigh as Carmen gets the clerk who then opens up a changing room. I figured I'd go in, pretend I tried it on and then get out but nope.

"I'll help you, (Name)" Connor says, going into the changing room as well. Carmen gives me a mischievous smirk and closes the door in my face as Connor hold up the dress.

And here I thought Carmen was a sweet, innocent middle aged lady.

How wrong I was...
