CHAPTER FIVE AKA RECOVERY

It was difficult to think of the recovery process of getting shot, but only a few days later she was released from the hospital, with Maya around and Jughead having a whole new level of responsibility over the girl, it seemed that the accident had only brought them closer and made her find new people too.

And despite the extreme happiness Lauren was finally feeling, she was aware that not only was she in desperate need to talk to both Maya and Jughead she was trying to avoid confrontation but it seemed that Jughead was thinking the opposite.

"Hey, Are we gonna talk about the Serpents?"

Lauren sighed using her good hand to push the hair away from her face, giving Jughead a look saying she wasn't ready but Jughead simply raised his eyebrows, knowing the girl was trying to put off their conversation. Lauren huffed out again, nodding her head as if to finally surrender to the conversation.

The two were seated in their car, outside Pop's to make sure he was doing okay after everything that had happened. But before either of them had hopped out of the car, Jughead had brought up the conversation they had to have eventually.

"What do you wanna talk about?" Lauren questioned nonchalantly, not realizing the big deal Jughead had made it.

Jughead raised his brows at her, shocked that she didn't find it as important. "You know the fact that you're officially part of the Serpents?"

The boy gestured to the leather jacket that she was wearing, one hand out of the arm hole due to her arm that was in a sling, the boy was driving since Lauren couldn't. Lauren shrugged at him, not understanding what he was trying to say.

"Look, are you sure you're ready for being a serpent and the responsibilities? Why didn't you tell me and how come you agreed so quick?" Jughead was so quick while asking the questions it took the girl aback.

"Jeez, slow down, Jug, what the fuck?" Lauren let out whilst rolling her eyes, relaxing a little in her seat, trying to get the tension around the two.

"Laur, Im serious." Jughead let out, closing his eyes in playful annoyance.

"Okay, okay." Lauren laughed, shaking her head, turning towards the boy again. "Yes, I am ready for being a Serpent, my whole family were ones so it is not a big deal, I can make commitment okay?"

"Why didn't you tell me?" Jughead asked again, turning to talk to her as well.

"Your dad came over the day he was out in jail and since then I didn't have much time to decide, plus it's to save my life along with Maya's." Lauren answered honestly.

Jughead sighed, closing his eyes and taking a deep breathe. "Save your life? Oh my god, Laur."

Lauren laughed bitterly. "I know."
