Part 10
Penelope’s POV
“Hold on, Princess. I’m headed over.” His voice sounded groggy with sleep and I felt guilt creep inside me, as I had woken him.
“I-I’m sorry for waking you.” I whispered into the phone.
“No, it’s perfectly fine. I can’t believe your practically living by yourself. Your parents should be more responsible.” I heard the car engine start up.
“P-please hurry Quinn, I’m scared…”
I heard the engine roar as he picked up speed.
“Whatever you do, do not go downstairs, until I tell you to come downstairs and open the door, ok? Just stay where you are until I come get you, ok?” He spoke calmly.
“Ok, Quinn.” I nodded, despite the fact that he couldn’t see me.
“Do you hear anything outside?” He asked, softly.
I tried to listen outside, pausing for a beat, before I heard rustling.
“Yes, I hear rustling, from near my window. I’m too scared to go to the window.”
“NO! Do not go near the window. Just stay where you are!” He practically shouted at me.
My eyes widened, as he had never used that tone with me.
“I haven’t moved, Quinn. I promise.”
“Sorry Princess, I’m worried. Please open the door; I’m standing right in front of your house.” He crooned, gently.
I raced downstairs and hurled the door open, to fling myself at Quinn. The tears I had tried so hard to conceal came pouring out.
“T-Thank you for coming.” I stuttered out.
I felt his big, warm arms wrap around my shivering body. I buried my face into his neck, as I tried to stop the tears. He moved me into the house and shut the door, before locking it.
“I did see something or someone scurrying off when I pulled up into your house. In the morning, I’m going to report it and we’ll get law enforcement down here. No one gets to scare my girlfriend without some serious consequences.” He rubbed his rough hands softly down my back, attempting to sooth me.
I nodded. I trusted Quinn to know what was best, that and I had no clue what to do.
“For now, I’m going to stay here. Don’t worry. I’ll sleep on the couch. If it makes you feel any better, you can lock the door to your room, if you want.” He attempted to reassure me.
“I trust you Quinn. You would never hurt me.” I gave a small smile of confidence.
He leaned forward to press his lips lightly against my forehead.
“Well, you shouldn’t. I’ve only been your boyfriend for a little bit. Anyway, the offer still stands so don’t think I’ll be offended if you lock the door or anything.”
“You can sleep in Mason’s room, if you want. He also has clothes in there that might fit you. I think you’ll be more comfortable in there. If it makes you feel any better, you can lock the door to the room, if you want.” I cracked the joke, with a smile and a giggle.
“Oh, you’re a regular joker at,” He glanced at the clock, “three in the morning.”
“You know me, always the funny one.” I lead him to Mason’s room.
