Part 8
Quinn’s POV
I woke up to the sounds of a small voice, trying not to express her pain. I suddenly remembered everything that happened last night and my eye shot open. I realized Penny was in my arms, trying to get up. I could tell that some sleep had healed her wounds, not to mention my own skills. She was probably feeling the soreness and stiffness. I helped her get up, while assessing the damage in a new light.
“Sorry, I didn’t want to wake you.” She spoke softly, her voice gritty from the sleep.
“Not a problem. I’m a pretty light sleeper.” I replied, truthfully.
She refused any help today, it seemed her limp and the pain in her abdomen were healed completely, or so she told me. I knew for a fact that they weren’t but I wasn’t going to force my help on her.
“Let’s get some food into you.” I smiled in her direction, while she made her way to the bathroom.
“Uhm, Quinn?” She asked, hesitantly.
When she asked as if she was scared I would refuse it made me want to agree as quickly as possible, just to show her I wasn’t like everyone else.
“Yes, princess?”
“Do you mind, if I take a shower?”
Well, that’s not what I expected her to say. I suppose she did want to wash away all that stiffness. I just thought that she would say something along the lines of “thank you” considering that’s all she’s been saying since last night.
“I-it’s just, I’d like to look relatively clean before I go home.” She tried to justify herself.
“Don’t perceive my silence as a refusal princess. I was just thinking. Of course you may take a shower. Feel free to take anything from my drawers or closet to wear. I will be in the kitchen making breakfast.” I realized it had taken me too long to reply.
I left her with that, seeing as she was beginning to feel uncomfortable. I began to take out the materials to make breakfast, while working through the motions mechanically. While making breakfast, I began to think about how I would ask Penny to be my girlfriend now. I knew Sandra had probably twisted her head into thinking I would never want her or something stupid along those lines, so I had to deal with her first. The only thing I was having trouble with was, should I do this my way or actually report it to law enforcement to deal with it. Well, I suppose I’ll ask Penny, though I already know what she’s going to say.
“Um, I hope you don’t mind, that I borrowed some of your stuff…” a small, painfully shy voice spoke from behind me.
I turned around to see my princess in my favorite red t-shirt and blue shorts. The shirt is longer than the shorts on her, and I struggled to regain my mental bearings before replying to her.
“No problem, I already told you that you could. You look nice in my clothes.” I winked at her.
She blushed before turning her face to the side. She looked too uncomfortable. I wonder what sick ideas Sandra implanted in her brain. I’ve got to set this straight. I finished preparing the food in silence and brought it to her.
“So how are your wounds feeling?” I asked, casually.
“They’re a lot better. Thank you again, for taking care of me.” She replied, politely.
