Harpy's Lament

When her flight came to an end

She was lost to me, my harpy friend

Her nails were daggers, like no other

No monster hunter dared to bother

Her talons could carry prey so far

Shining inky like the darkest tar

Her wings soared with a strength true

And reflected in the dullest blue

She could fly for hours on end

Never needing a single helping hand

She bore beauty like I've never seen

For her feathers, she'd never preen

Her nose was beaked, a marvellous sight

And her eyes shone with vicious delight

Teeth so sharp, diamonds they could bite

They were the instruments of her spite

As sister in arms, she truly was the best

Her blood thirst never knew any rest

She could strike fear in the strongest heart

But now she only broke mine apart

May she sore on the winds of hell

While her killer I will quell
