Chapter 17-The Escape

"Shit!" I shout. Guns could be heard from the outside, trying to fire their way through the door. Obviously, they are Nadine's men. Who knows how many of her men are actually out there right now.

Also, the bad thing right now. Sam had gone outside to get better signal and now he's nowhere to be found whilst I'm stuck. My chest quickly speeds up as my breathing did, I gulp as I look around to find another way out as the door is now unusable.

My eyes stop to the broken window that I had used to get into the tower. I jump in shock as I hear banging on the door, a medium-size piece of wood gets kicked in and collapse to the floor. I knew I only had a small amount of time, they will gain entrance in no time.

I move away from the door, sprinting towards the broken staircase. I look at my hand which is bandaged up, this is going to hurt. The only way up is climbing the pillar since I left my rope in the car which wasn't a very clever thing know that I think of it.

Both hands grip around the pillar before I start using my feet to climb up to the platform, I groan in pain as my injured hand slides against the pillar. I take a few breaths once I get to the top, I carefully move out of the window, jumping down as quietly as I could. I know it wouldn't be clever to move to the front as I would be killed but I did want to see how many people were there. I silently move to some cover before peaking over.

My breath just stops once I see someone that I was worried about to see through this whole trip, it's him the person that was the cause of me being so paranoid and was saved by the orphanage from him. I take a few deep breaths, leaning against the wall as I try and think what I need to do, I just Sam managed to get away.

I stand back to my feet and quickly move around the back knowing there would be a car there as there are so many people and cars so they would have to go to the back and thank god I was correct. There was a car at the back which was facing towards me, I sprint towards the car hiding behind it as someone moves towards the car and got in.

He must be the driver, I quietly move around the back and climbed in the back. I grab the back of his head and pushed his head into the wheel as hard as I could, I reach over and opened the car door allowing him to fall out of the seat so I could sit there. I stayed in my seat as I reached down and searched for the keys in his pockets.

"Thank god, you had them," I say as I grab the keys and put it into the ignition, I turn to my right, hoping I could see Sam, maybe he's already left as we did get separated and who knows where he went.

I smile and turned on the car, the car rumbles and I knew this would catch people's attention. I press down the clutch of the car and done the needed parts to allow the car to go, my hand moves to the handbrake and I notice that someone was walking towards me. The voice shouts for me just as I move off, stepping my foot on the accelerator and just speeding past.

I gasp as I smash through the wall that was once giving me cover, I duck as they quickly start firing at me but I just try to ignore it as I speed down the road to try to catch up to Sam and escape these guys. As I drive up the road, I notice another car in front of me, it's Nate and Sully, I must have driven the wrong way at some point.

I honk the horn and pushed my foot further into the accelerator. "Try and hold your car steady, I'm going to jump in," I tell them as I now drive side by side. "You really are crazy aren't you," I hear Nate laugh as a large vehicle follows behind us, I decide it is the best for me to be a little bit in front so I've got time to jump in.

I move my way out of the car and into the back, holding onto the pole. I look past me to see my car about to it a wall. It's now or never, I take the risk and jump, my upper part landing in the back whilst the bottom half hit the edge of the vehicle, I groan as pain shoot through my injured hand and my legs.

"God... that hurt," I groan as I sit up just as Nate takes a sharp turn just as my car hit the wall, causing it to explode due to the speed we were going and all the bullets it had taken. I use my non-injured hand to hold onto the bar above me as I try and keep my head down from all the bullets firing at us.

"Hey, up those stairs," I hear Sully call which causes me to look between them to see that we're about to just go over. My grip tightens as we go straight over the stairs and into the grass parts and escaping the vehicle, for now anyway. "Man, Rafe really wants us out of the picture!" Nate shouts as we move down the hill and right now this is the reason why I had retired from this job. 

I'm so sorry for not updating for around six months, I haven't had much inspiration for any of my stories, I'm not sure how often I'm going to be adding chapters as I'm so busy now as I'm in my last year before going off to university, so I hope you enjoy this chapter after such a long wait.
