《 Tia's POV 》
"We're back...!" Sonia smiled softly, tugging the fire-proof material from its place on her and Harley's heads. I stretched leisurely, grinning at my two friends. Harley's eyebrows were creased. He surveyed our surroundings suspiciously.
"Something feels off, though," He commented, "Is it just me, or does it sound like we're hearing everything through a bubble...?"
"What?" I exchanged a baffled glance with Sonia, who looked equally confused, "No, everything sounds normal? Did you accidentally hit your head or something...?"
Sonia peered at him in concern. He shrugged, still scowling uncertainly at the pavement.
"At any rate, we should head back home," I suggested, "Sonia, we'll walk with you back to your place. Just in case, y'know!"
Sonia nodded happily, and turned to study the surrounding buildings critically. After several moments of silence, she pointed down on of the streets, "My place is that way. About fifteen or so blocks. Hope you guys don't mind a bit of a walk!"
"Oh no, walking?!" I cried dramatically in mock horror, "My one great weakness!"
"Plus some stairs once we get there, I live on the four floor of my apartment building..." The pink-haired girl snorted.
I pretended to fall over in despair, before jumping back up again, "Let's a go, m'hearties!"
"AYE AYE, Tia!" Sonia joined in.
"That's 'Captain' Tia, to you!" I retorted cheekily.
"Was that just a Pirates of the Caribbean reference?" Harley chuckled as the three of us began our journey back to Sonia's apartment.
"You bet your ass it was~"
"Language!" Sonia gently shoved me. I spun to face her and Harley, walking backwards and praying to God that I wouldn't accidentally walk straight into someone.
"Speaking of language, the English language is just plain ridiculous!" I raised my eyebrow, "My History teacher won't stop complaining about it. But, you gotta admit, it IS pretty crazy!"
Sonia looked like she wanted to reply, but before she could, Harley had plunged his hand into his jacket pocket and launched forward.
"Harley, what are you-" I squeaked, instinctively scrambling sideways to dodge him. The blonde-haired male had whipped out the little device Tony had given him to defend against bullies (if I remembered correctly), and was now in the process of swinging it towards a figure in a dark blue coat. A figure with a distinctive flash of orange hair.
Oh, and an shadow-y sword, too. Yep.
With a tiny 'whirring' noise, a small bolt of electricity shoot from the top of the little device grasped in Harley's hand. Shady Dude jumped backwards, wincing at the sudden electrical charge making contact with him.
"Woah, Harley," I remarked in surprise, "Nice reflexes!"
"Shoot your fire at me!" Sonia demanded urgently. For a moment, as I whirled to face her, I was sure I had misheard what she'd said.
