A/N: Before the book starts, I just want to share a few things with you guys. First of all, I'm not very familiar with Assassin's Creed. There are only face claims and some aspects of the games have been reused in this books, (so you don't need to have watched any of the gameplays to understand the book). Secondly, all gifs used to not act as faceclaims, only the action described (only the video game assassin gifs). And the gifs and fanart doesn't belong to me. Enjoy!

"LET ME GO!!" She yelled, yanking her arm back from the stranger's grasp. He released a groan as the little girl kicked him in the groin and ran for her life, meandering between the numerous dirty buildings to lose the man. In a small corner of one of the buildings, she crawled through a hole in the wall hurriedly, glancing for a millisecond to see whether she had been seen. Thankfully, no one was there.

She released a low giggle of victory as she stood back up and leaned against the wall. Shuffling through her pocket, she picked up a green apple she had stolen from the market. Wiping it quickly with the dirty cloth she stated were her clothes, she climbed the unstable wooden stairs and jumped on a neighbouring roof. She laid there comfortably, gazing at the vast desert scenery around her, happily munching on the juicy fruit in her hand.

She gulped down the rest of the snack, swallowing as many of the layers around the seeds as possible. Her breathing hitched as she heard low footsteps below. Throwing the body of the apple away, she crawled on the rooftop, trying to make as little noise on the tiles, wincing softly as her knees rested on the hard surface.

"Find her," She distinguished a low voice order below. Her eyes widened in fright, standing up and extending her arms on her sides to keep her balance. She tiptoed along the rooftop, her heartbeat racing as she felt eyes on her. Suddenly, the rooftop collapsed and two muscular arms extended to her small frame and grabbed her violently by the waist. A high pitched scream escaped her lips as her body flew into another.

"LET ME GO!!!" She screamed, kicking the huge chunk of mass behind her.

"Over here," He grunted, as two other men prowled towards her. She started whimpering silently, not knowing who the men surrounding her were and not wanting to be forced to go anywhere with them.

"There you are," One of the two men started, "we've been looking all over the country for you, we're surprised that you made it this far on your own, your parents would be proud," He laughed.

"We're not alone," They heard a voice say. A shootout began, the men that were guarding the building fell to the floor one by one.

"Take her away!" The one that had previously spoken waved. Running to the entrance as the gruff man holding the girl wobbled towards the desert. He whistled, hoping his horse would hear. This was the girl's chance. She struggled against him, the man, being too preoccupied with intercepting his horse, tried to mount it without paying attention to the girl he held.

She screamed again, biting the man's hand as he gritted his teeth in pain. Bullets could be heard again, louder than ever.

"GET OFF ME CREEP!!" She ordered,

"Shut up!!" The man cursed, raising his hand to slap her until his action was cut short by a bullet going through his head. The little girl, too naive and young to comprehend what was going on, stared at the collapsed body on the floor curiously.

A shadow grew behind her, stopping her from inspecting the body clearly. Her head snapped to the man's figure, slowly backing up but quickly feeling the horse's body heat on her back. The tenseness in his muscles told exactly what it was feeling.

"Hey little one," the man cooed, crouching down to her level. She glared at him distrustfully, her fists clenching as numerous thoughts raced through her brain.

"I'm not going to hurt you, I promise, I'm here to keep you safe." He smiled softly.

"Why?" She blurted out.

"Because you are very very important." He stated, scanning her dirty state. Her cheeks were covered in dirty, some messy strands of hair falling over her eyes as her collarbone gave the clear indication that she was underweight.

"Are you hungry?" He asked after piecing the clues together. The girl nodded shyly, biting her lip as she suddenly realises how many eyes were on her.

"We're heading home," The man announced, standing back up and stomping his feet a few times in order to get the blood running through his veins again. The men that were behind him nodded, walking back to their horses in a field not too far from the house, it could be seen from her space in the room.

She shook her head once again, getting rid of the thoughts that would flood her mind when she was confused or anxious.

The tall man grinned down at her, extending his hand to her, to which she obliged. They walked hand in hand, in the company of the few men that followed him on his quest. Soon, they arrived at the horses, the man hoisted himself on a white mustang, extending his arms out as another male carried the girl off the ground and handed her to him.

She settled in front of him, moving around a little to find the most comfortable position on the mammal before leaning back into the man's chest. Taking this as a sign, he wrapped an arm around her petite figure and, to the girl's amazement, his horse started trotting at his command.

She looked around them, seeing the men that accompanied the one that was holding her on their horses as they started galloping on the sandy path, away from the small town.

The girl gazed back at her 'home', watching it shrink in the distance with no remorse

The girl gazed back at her 'home', watching it shrink in the distance with no remorse. She didn't despise the place, she just wasn't attached to it. The feeling of 'home' had vanished just as her parents did a few months ago.

She turned back, feeling the movements of the horse under her as they raced through the dead scenery, her life was going to take a turn. For the best or for the worst? Who knows?

"(Y/N), get up," A voice ordered. The girl in question grudgingly opened her eyes, staring at the figure above her.

"Five more minutes, Lucas," She grumbled.

"No, get up! You're already late," He grunted, pulling her shoulder.

"Stop it!" She whined, "what am I late for anyway?"

"Your preparation!! You're turning 18!" He yelled, pushing me off the bed.

"Fine," She mumbled, shooting up.

"You need to get to Mía for your fitting, Gabriela will go over the procedure with you." He nodded.

"Okay," She sighed, shooting off the bed and scurrying to freshen up.
