She stirred slightly, groaning softly as she felt her head. It was pounding madly and her side burned harshly. Her eyes opened slowly, adjusting to her surroundings. She distinguished the familiar ceiling from her temporary residence in the ally's chambers. As her eyesight became better, she looked to her side, seeing it was daylight outside. She sighed deeply before gazing in the other direction. She jumped as her eyes landed on Lucas, who was staring at her hard, an unreadable expression on his face. He was sitting down on a chair, elbow on his knee and his fingers tracing his shaved and slightly scarred jaw.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" She scoffed.

"Why did you run away?" He glared at her, completely ignoring her question. Her face fell immediately.

"How dare you ask me that question?!" She shot out of bed, frowning at him. Lucas' mouth fell agape as he searched for the right words - but she beat him to it.

"You lie to me for my entire life knowing you and you think I will not be offended by this huh? How heartless must you be to keep such secrets from me for all this time-"

"I didn't have a choice okay? We basically grew up together, we're like brother and sister. I hated keeping this from you all those years, but Andrés ordered me to never talk about it unless told otherwise."Lucas snapped. The girl's eyes softened at the man's change in tone.

"It was the hardest thing ever assigned to me," He muttered, turning away as his face contorted into disappointment. The girl walked up to him, clasping a hand down on his shoulder.

"I'm sorry for blaming you. It was indecent of me to place accusations," She mumbled against his back.

"It's quite alright," He breathed out, turning back to her with the grin that charmed many girls in the past, "I was worried about you."

The girl smiled in response, pulling him into a hug. He tensed instantly under her touch, taking a few moments to feel at ease in her embrace and returning the hug.

"Andrès wants to talk with you," He whispered in her ear, caressing the back of her head. She simply groaned in response.

"Why? So he could throw more lies in my face?" She grunted, words leaving her mouth like venom.

"Actually, he wants to redeem himself and tell you the truth." Lucas pulled away from the hug, caressing her cheek slightly. She frowned immediately, a hard glare in her eyes.

"I don't need nor want to talk to that liar," She scoffed.

"I'll be there, I'll make sure he tells you the truth," He reassured.

"What if he lied to you as well and hasn't said anything about it being false for your whole life?" The girl raised an eyebrow at him. He chuckled softly, shaking his head.

"That's not how that works, yes, he took me under his wing and raised me, but I learnt everything on my own. I travelled and studied." He grinned, seeing the girl's face wash over, absorbed in thoughts.

"I'm telling you (Y/N)," He sighed.

"Fine," She grumbled, "I'll hear him out."

******

"I want to start from the beginning," Andrès sighed, scratching his cheek, watching as the girl sat down in front of him, Lucas standing on the side, at the level of the desk.

"When you were younger, your father didn't really disappear and your mother didn't kill herself either," He started. The girl's eyes widened, heart, beating quicker in anticipation.

"Your father was killed, by an enemy. Your mother - she disappeared after that," the eldest man in the room continued. The girl gulped nervously, glancing up at the man that was standing beside her. Dreading the truth, she chewed on her lip, trying to stop a gasp from escaping. He nodded in confirmation. Her eyes fell to the ground.

"After the enemy had killed him, I had to bring you to safety. I couldn't leave you there on your own with no mother. Your father and I were very close, we continued leading the firm together for so many years. Do you remember me saving you all those years ago? After you tried being stealthy and even fought a few of my men off?"Andrès asked, leaning more onto the table. The girl shook her head shyly.

"To tell you the truth, I don't really remember my father,"

"That's okay, I'll be more than happy to tell you all about him," He smiled sympathetically. She nodded eagerly, feeling Lucas' hand clasp on her shoulder and squeeze it softly.

"My lord?" A voice asked as it barged into the room. Andrès shot off his seat and Lucas' dagger slit out of its socket and twinkled between his fingers.

"What is the meaning of this? I'm in a meeting!" the elder man snapped.

"Apologies my lord, but we have word of the explosion, some items have been stolen." The man explained in distressed.

"Close the door behind you," Andrès ordered, seemingly finding more priority in the stolen items that the girl's father. The guard followed suit, marching closer to the desk as Lucas retrieving his knife back in his sleeve and stood his ground, retreating away from the girl.

"All the important elements for the tomb, this was a planned attack from the Council," He nodded.

"All of them?!" The leader roared. We all flinched at his outburst, "These objects are too important to be stolen! We cannot afford to have them in enemy hands, you better find it quickly before I lose my patience!" he warned. The girl's eyes widened, remembering the same tone of voice when she was younger and a stranger tried to kidnap her.

~"Who are you?" He snapped, his and Lucas' daggers out of their sockets and pointing at the caped figure that was holding the girl in his embrace, hovering outside of the window, ready to jump to the ground.

"That is none of your concern," The gruff voice echoed in the room. The girl squirmed in his grasp, trying to find her way back to the faces she was familiar with.

"Let her go," Lucas warned, prowling towards the window.

"No," The stranger shook his head slightly, grip tightening around her petite waist.

"Ow, you're hurting me! Get off me, LUCAS!" she cried out, digging her nails in the man's skin. The outsider winced, eyes falling down to her. In that moment of distraction, Lucas threw his knife at him, piercing through his shoulder. The newcomer groaned, grip faltering slightly and losing his balance on the window sill. His heel slipped from the stone ledge and they started falling off.

The girl screamed, shutting her eyes until the hard grasp around her was replaced with a firm yet more gentle one. Her eyes opened, gulping as she stared at the dark abyss below her, swallowing the attacker whole. She looked up at the man holding her, eyes locking with her guardian as his unnerved gazed focused on her frightened ones. He pulled her back inside, holding her against his chest and rubbing circles in her back.

"You are safe little girl, I promise," He reassured. She nodded slowly, reaching towards Lucas and holding his hand. He smiled at her, squeezing her limb softly.~

"We need to the boarding room. Assemble everyone," Andrès ordered. The men bowed, walking out of the room in a hurry.

"(Y/N)?" He asked, his voice losing it's aggressive appeal immediately.

"Yes?" She responded, peering back at him.

"You're coming with, it's time you understand what has really been going on."
