chapter 4.

Ariel wakes up by Michael his snores, seeing that he's still in a deep sleep. She thinks about the amusing night she had yesterday, but it is ruined by the thought that she had to go to school tomorrow. Well, at least she has class with Michael tomorrow. She wonders where Calum go's to school. Ashton probably won't go to school anymore, since he's twenty already.

When she was about to step out of the bed, a hand grabs her wrist and pulls her back in. ''Where do you think you're going?'' Michael asks with his really low morning voice. ''Well I thought I could make us breakfast. But if you're not hungry..'' she teases him. He releases his grib and let her go.

It's funny how they act like they are a couple, but they both wouldn't want to be more than friends.

After breakfast Ariel decides to go to Ashton, hoping he wants to talk to her for a bit. She hugs Michael goodbye and makes her way to their home. From the outside it's actually quite cute. Not big but not small either. A big garage beside it and a small all grass front yard what directly lead you to the backyard.

She knocks on the door, which Calum opens topless with a sweatpants. "Looking good Cal." she winks as she admires his tattoos. "Well thank you my lady." he smirks. "Watcha doin' here?"

"Well I was wondering if Ashton is willing to go and take a drink with me." she awkwardly moves with her feet. "Well, I don't know? You should ask it himself." he rubs his neck and walks into the room, giving Ariel a sign to follow him.

The inside of the house was pretty clean, but you could easily see that two boys live here. Posters of rock bands hanging everywhere, some old fashioned couch and a small kitchen. Calum walks further into the house and arrives at Ashton's room. You can tell that because there is 'Ash' taped on the door.

Ariel opens the door, seeing Ashton sitting behind his drums losing himself in the beat. "Excuse me, Ash?" she hesitantly says. "Ariel?" Ashton is confused why she's in his room.

"Hey, I was wondering if you wanted to go take a drink with me!" she excitedly asks. "I'm not sure if that's a good idea. Won't you rather go with Calum? I'm sure you'll enjoy it more." he says hesitating. ''No I want to go with you! It's not a date Ash, just as friends okay? Can I call you Ash by the way?''

''I guess..'' he mumbles. For a second Ariel thinks he is going to refuse her invitation, but then he stands up nodding slightly. ''Where are we going?'' still hesitatingly. ''Don't know, just a walk and then we'll see where we are.'' she smiles bright, not thinking that Ashton would actually join her. ''I actually need to know where we are going..''

''Well.. maybe we can go to my favorite café at the park? I've been there yesterday after I bumped in to you.'' she slightly laughs. Ashton gives her a fake small laugh in respond, just to avoid causing an awkward conversation about that 'bump in' thing. ''Where's the address?'' he silently asks. ''Erm.. Williams avenue 14.'' she replies, finding it a bit strange that Ashton needs to know where it is.

After he added the address into his cellphone, he puts his earphones in, but takes one out again when Ariel nudges him a bit. ''Are you seriously going to listen to music while we walk?'' her voice sounds quite offended. ''I'm sorry I just neede- oh nevermind.''

They both walk out of the house after saying Calum goodbye. The two walk in silent, both not quite sure what to say to each other.

''Sooo Ash, do you have a job or something?'' Ariel asks, finally interupting the silence. ''No I don't.'' he quickly says, not wanting to talk about that. The rest of the way to the cafe they spend in silence.

When they arrive they take a seat. Ariel looks confused at Ashton, who is pulling his arms out to find a chair to sit on. When he did, he pulled out the other earphone and puts his phone in his pocket. ''Fancy a drink?'' she asks him. ''No thank you, I'm fine.''

Ashton always talks with this really soft voice, but you can easily hear his thick Australian accent. It's almost like he sings the sentences when he speaks, but really quiet so nobody will really hear him.

The waitress came to their table to take their order. Ariel not wanting to drink something alone, she ordered two cokes, causing Ashton to wail a bit. ''It's really hot outside Ash, you need to drink something!'' what a lame excuse she thought by herself.

''Why do you and Calum live together?'' she asks curious. ''Calum looks after me.'' he simply says.

After an hour sitting in the cafe, Ariel have asked lots of questions, what Ashton would reply with short answers, not wanting to tell everyone his story. Lots of people have abandoned him, that's why he doesn't trust anyone but Calum.

Ariel looks around her, not knowing what to ask anymore. She hoped Ashton would tell something about himself, but he didn't. He didn't even ask her a question. ''Do you want to go?'' she just awkwardly says in the silence, receiving a nod from Ashton.

She pays their drinks and when she walks back to Ashton, she sees he has already his earplugs in again. Not wanting to cause a fight about that, she just walks next to him to their home. The whole way home was silent of course. Ashton thinks about everything Ariel asked him. Was he too hard on her? She just wanted to be friends.. But then he remembers that people are cruell. First they act all interested and then they'll get you on your weakest spot.

When they arrived, Ariel didn't really know what to say, so she assumed that she would just go home. ''Well, bye I guess.'' she says softly. The only thing she wanted was to open him up a little, but he didn't seem interested at all, so she just let it rest and tries to agree that Ashton clearly didn't want to be friends with her.

Just when Ariel walked away, Ashton stops her. ''Ariel?'' his voice says softly, Ariel looks up. ''Why do you care about me?''

Ariel is not sure what she should say about that. Why does she care about him? Did she like him? No.. they just met a day ago.

''I just wanted to be friends, but I guess you're not okay with that. It's fine, I'll just go home.''
