Chapter Ten

I looked out of my window and saw a big blue sign that said "WELCOME TO ORLANDO" and underneath it said "THE CITY BEAUTIFUL". We had finally made it. By now, we had toned down our turn up session in the car with some Wale, which was pretty befitting since the sun was already starting to go down. I looked to my left and saw that Deon was fast asleep with my phone resting in his lap still playing Teen Titans Go! His head started to tilt toward Chresanto's arm until it finally connected. Chresanto looked down at him and shook his head with a loving smile. I loved the relationship Chresanto and Deon had despite them being apart for so long while he was in prison. And the way he looked at Deon showed anyone who noticed that he would go to war for his son. During my pregnancy, Chresanto once told me that all he wanted to be for Deon was the father that he once had. Chresanto used to idolize his father so when he died, he took it pretty hard. And it didn't help that the man who his mother married after that was the complete opposite of her late husband and used to beat on the both of them. He deserves nothing but the best of me Chresanto used to say about Deon. And I had no doubt that was what he had been giving him.

Chresanto looked over at me just in time to catch me looking at him and for some reason I didn't look away. Maybe it was because I didn't want to. Maybe I wanted him to know that I was thinking about him. And from the way he stared back at me showed me that he knew that, even though I was certain that no amount of looks in the world could articulate everything that I was dying to say to him. Finally he tore his eyes away from mine and focused on Deon. He removed the headphones from Deon's ears careful not to wake him up and proceeded to turn off Teen Titans Go! Suddenly I noticed his eyebrows furrow like he was getting pissed about something. He unplugged Deon's headphones and handed my phone back to me before turning his head toward the window. He didn't even bother to look at me. I looked at my phone and saw that I had gotten a new message from Jacob.

"Fuck" I mouthed to myself. His timing couldn't have been worse.

Hey, beautiful! I just found out that the official date that I'm leaving for tour is October 1st. I'd love to spend as much time with you as I can before I leave. I hope you have a great time in Orlando.

As much as I wanted to smile right now, the fact that Chresanto saw the text ruined everything. I know seeing it couldn't have aided his decision in whether or not he wanted to get back together. He probably thinks I've already moved on. Even though I established boundaries with Jacob and he knows that I don't want to be in a relationship with him, I wasn't going to lie and say that I wasn't feeling him. I liked Jacob but he didn't hold a candle to the love that I had for Chresanto. But then I thought about Cedric's advice. He had told me that Chresanto needed time and honestly, it was the least he deserved from me. I had to give him that, but I also wasn't going to wait around like a sad puppy for him to figure out what he wanted to do.

Thank you! I'll hit you up when I get back.

We continued to ride through Orlando for a few more minutes until Cedric finally pulled up to the Cabana Bay Beach Resort. It was a convenient choice considering the little distance from Universal Studios.

"We're here"

Cedric's baritone voice was enough to wake Zonnique out of her sleep. She had been so excited to get on the road but she was knocked out twenty minutes after we started driving. She pushed her  hair out of her face and sat up in her seat. I woke Deon up from his sleep and took him out of the car seat. We all proceeded to get our belongings out of the trunk and make our way to the entrance. When we approached the reception desk, we were greeted by a woman who appeared to be no older than thirty-five.

"Welcome to the Cabana Bay Beach Resort! How can I help you today?"

Chresanto stepped forward.

"Yeah, we booked two rooms. 'August'"
