Necessity

Chapter Eleven

It was officially Deon's birthday and we had finally made it inside of the amusement park. We were all currently looking for rides that Deon was allowed to get on considering he was only two years old. He was perched on top of Chresanto's shoulders and looked like he was having the time of his life even though we hadn't even gotten on anything yet. Every time we passed by a superhero or cartoon that he loved, he always pointed it out. His favorite was Spider-Man as proven by the Spider-Man cap that he wore today. I remember when I bought it for him. He saw it while we were at the mall one day and cried his eyes out until I went in there and got it. I was annoyed as hell because I was certain that as soon as I bought it, he would abandon it. Kids are like that but Deon actually surprised me because he wears that hat so much that I'm not used to seeing him without it. We finally decided to go to the Simpson's ride first since it was just a simulation instead of an actual roller coaster. Surprisingly the line actually wasn't that long.

"I'm kinda hungry" Nique said after we had been standing in line for a bit.

How the hell was she hungry already? We had already eaten breakfast less than an hour ago at the hotel.

"What about you, Ced? You hungry?" she asked turning her attention to Cedric.

At that point, I was really confused and was honestly starting to think she was high. Cedric looked at her strangely.

"Girl, what are you talkin' about? We just ate bre-"

Zonnique nudged him in his side and suddenly Cedric's face changed from one of confusion to one of realization. And in that moment, I also realized what she was trying to do. She wanted to get me and Chresanto alone.

"Actually, yeah...yeah I could eat" Cedric said.

"Me too. I think me and Cedric are gonna go grab something to eat real quick" Nique said as she began to step away from the line.

"Real quick? Ya'll aren't gonna be back in time for the ride"

"We can just catch the next one, Bahja. It's only the first ride of the day. Plus, it would be fun for Dee to hang out with his two favorite people for a bit, right?"

I looked over at Chresanto and he was giving Cedric and Zonnique a look that showed that he also knew they were full of shit.

"Well, c'mon Ced. We'll see ya'll after the ride" Nique said giving a small wave before she walked off.

The next thing I knew, it was just me, Deon, and Chresanto together in line. Time had never felt so slow and I had never felt so speechless, which is saying something considering I never thought there would ever be a point in me and Chresanto's relationship that I wouldn't have anything to say. I didn't even know if he wanted to talk to me after what happened yesterday in the car. I looked up at Chresanto but he was staring straight ahead looking severely annoyed. Even though I was annoyed too at the stunt that Nique and Cedric pulled, it was probably necessary because Chresanto had been showing no interest in getting on good terms with me.

"So...who's running Royal while you're away" I asked him.

He briefly looked at me before speaking.

"Seth" he dryly answered.

I knew Seth from the club. We had met before when I would stop by the club sometimes. He was one of Royal's managers and had always been very respectful toward me.

"How's he doing?"

"Fine" Chresanto replied almost instantly as if he was irritated.

Now there wasn't a doubt in my mind that he was still upset about what happened in the car. I didn't understand Chresanto. One minute he says he only wants a co-parenting relationship and the next minute he's ignoring me because of his jealousy.
