Chapter Four: Cold Reception

You woke up on a nice  warm, comfortable bed. You jolted upright, looking around. The first thing you saw was Felicia, standing over Corrin with another maid by her side. The other maid had ice blue hair. Corrin was fast asleep. Then you noticed Silas and Elise standing over him next to Felicia and the other maid. You put your hand to your head, it was pounding like a hangover. Where were you? What happened? The last thing you remember was being so cold... and so hungry. 

Speaking of hungry, your stomach was trying to eat itself just to tide itself over. You hugged your stomach in pain. That's when something warm was held out towards you. It was soup in a bowl with a spoon. You looked up and saw a man with blue hair and pitiful eyes looking at you. He smiled kindly towards you and watched you take the bowl in your delicate, frostbiten hands. You looked like you needed this.

"Drunk up, Izumoan Child. You need it."

Was it that obvious that your ethnicity was Izumoan? That or Elise went ahead and told him about you. She was a cheery princess after all. Or Felicia. She said she did know all about this place after all. She also seemed unaffected by the cold. Even so, you took the spoon and gave yourself a little bit of the soup. He was right. You did need it. The feeling of warmth trickling through your body felt heavenly with the frozen fingertips and goosebump covered skin you bore.

The bluenette man walked away to Corrin as he woke up. Since nobody was watching you went ahead and drank the soup like milk in a cup from the bowl. You wiped your mouth and found a nice bedside table to put the bowl and spoon on. You stood up, finding your scroll also on the besdide table. You picked it up and looked around. This place was awfully cozy for living in the middle of a tundra wasteland. 

As you were admiring the room you suddenly heard harsh yelling from behind you. You whipped around and saw the bluenette, kind, older man threatening Lord Corrin. Then he grabbed a book. Not just a book, a tome. He charged up an ice magic and tried to shoot it at Corrin, but he rolls out of the bed and onto the floor, grabbing his Yato.

"Everyone! Outside! We need to regroup outside!"

Silas grabbed Elise and ran with her. Felicia nodded and grabbed a dagger from under her skirt. The other maid also grabbed a dagger, but aimed it for Felicia. What was happening!? How did this all go to chaos so soon!? You look around. Arthur? Effie? Being around a formidable soldier right now would make you feel much more secure. That's when other people from the ice tribe, two mages, corner you. Tears weld in your eyes.

This was happening too fast. Far too fast. You want to cry. You can't hurt them! They're people! They're humans! You can't! You can't fight them! You bow your head, not wanting no to fight. The mages take their tomes, lifting their hands to execute you right here. This was it. You can't do it. You cried. You didn't want to do this. You really didn't want to do this. No. No no no no no. But you have to. To protect yourself. To protect your friends. You have no one but yourself to blame.

You open your scroll and you use the blue magic as a shield to to deflect the fire and thunder blasts from th mages. Tears rolled down your face as the two mages share a surprised and fearful look. They look back at you, determination flowing back into their facial expressions. You sob out two words:

"I'm sorry."

You use the blue magic Sheila and launch it back at them. The two mages blast back, one of them losing their thunder tome. The book slid over to you. The mages seem to be extremely injured. The one with the fire tome couldn't get up and seemed unconscious from the powerful magical attack. The one that remained tomeless looked up at you with fear quivering in his lip and with tears welding in his eyes. You bend down and grab the tome. You walk up to the mage and hand the magic book back to its owner.
