The world stops for both of them. The memory of their kiss floods both of their minds, but for some reason it pales in comparison to this kiss. Katherine knows that her love supersedes her anger as they kiss. She did it entirely out of impulse. She hopes the kiss proves that she really loves him and would never want to sell him and the boys out. Jack, on the other hand, is full of surprise. His lips melt away into hers and he feels the pressure of their earlier fight lift off of his shoulders. He loves her and could never stay mad at her for too long. He is extremely surprised that after a heated fight, she still loves him. When they break apart, they both start to talk, but no actual words come out. They are both too shocked to say anything intelligible. Katherine is shocked at what she has just done. She did what she has been wanting to do for a couple of days now. She is so happy. An odd silence hangs between the two and Katherine still has one thing she needs to know before she decides to voice how she feels.

"I just want to know that you didn't do it just for the money," Katherine states in an odd fashion that slightly resembles a question. She hopes Jack didn't turn on David, Crutchy, the boys, and her just to get some cash and a train to Santa Fe.

"No, I," Jack pauses, collecting his thoughts and words out of the shock from the kiss, "I spoke da truth. Ya win a fight when you'se got da odda fella down on da ground eatin pavement. Ya fadda ain't evah givin up on dis. I dunno what else we can do."(Dialogue by Harvey Fierstein in Newsies) Katherine smirks and doesn't want Jack to ruin her big moment. She smiles at him and says gleefully,

"Ah, but I do." Jack looks appalled at her and Katherine keeps smiling. This is why she loves Jack. No matter what she does, she can always surprise him. Just like Jack always surprises her. (Dialogue by Harvey Fierstein in Newsies)

"Oh come on," Jack says in disbelief and Katherine looks at him with disbelief. (Dialogue by Harvey Fierstein in Newsies)

"Really, Jack? Only you can have a good idea?" Katherine asks with sarcasm dripping in her voice. Smirking she tries a different approach and says "Or is it because I'm a girl?" (Dialogue by Harvey Fierstein in Newsies)

"Ey! I nevah said anyting about dat," Jack starts. (Dialogue in Newsies by Harvey Fierstein) Irritation clear in his voice when Katherine cuts him off with,

"Now would be a good time to shut up!" Jack's face reddens slightly. Out of embarrassment and slight anger? She's not sure, but it certainly is amusing to watch. Jack's head slumps in defeat and she smiles while looking at him thinking about how much she loves him. He looks up again. "Being boss doesn't mean you have all the answers, just the smarts to know what the right one is," She continues and waits to make sure he is paying attention. (Dialogue by Harvey Fierstein in Newsies)

"I'm listening," he says when he's done feeling sorry for himself. Katherine smiles looking into those bright green eyes staring back at her. (Dialogue by Harvey Fierstein in Newsies)

"Good for you! The strike was your idea, the rally was Davey's, and mine will take us to the finish line,"(Dialogue by Harvey Fierstein in Newsies) Jack gives her a slightly defeated look as she says this and unfolds her paper right in his face, "Deal with it."(Dialogue by Harvey Fierstein in Newsies) , She smiles smugly as Jack reads the title boasting at the top of the page,

"Da Children's Crusade, huh?" Katherine nods. (Dialogue by Harvey Fierstein in Newsies) She has his attention now. Maybe not as a love interest, but she is going to help them win this strike. She begins to quote the article just so Jack can hear some of it,

"To every child working in a factory, sweatshop, and slaughter house in New York, I beg you join us. With those words, the strike stops being just about the Newsies. We call our whole generation to stand and demand a place at the table. My words." (Dialogue by Harvey Fierstein in Newsies) She stops and thinks for a moment and gasps excitedly when the solution hits her. "With one of your drawings! We could every child worker in New York to come rally with us. A city wide strike is something even my father won't ignore," (Dialogue by Harvey Fierstein in Newsies) She declares bouncing on the balls of her feet excitedly. Jack looks at her with a smile on his face. There is still hope for the strike and now he can see it. Then his face falls.
