"Ace, ya gotta hear me out. We might be able to take ya ta Medda's," Jack suggests, "She might let ya spend da night at her house." Katherine sighs and says,
"Someone will know. Someone will find out. My father will have this whole city searched to find out where I escaped to." She doesn't want Jack to get stuck just because she ran away from her evil father. If Jack gets caught, she'll never forgive herself. Jack is so important to the strike. The kids of New York City need him to be their hero. She turns Jack to face her and he smiles a cocky grin, obviously surprised by her gesture. "The kids in New York need you. It's okay if I don't show up tomorrow. You boys know what to do and you can break in and I can get you keys and," She keeps going on and only stops when Jack silences her with a kiss. Jack pulls away with a mischievous gleam in his eyes.
"I'se helping ya and nothing ya say is gonna stop me," he says and Katherine sighs in defeat, "Besides, I'se broken outta da Refuge so we can break into ya faddah's house easy peasy." Jack grabs her hand and Katherine leads him toward her house. Once they get to her house, Jack mutters something about the size of her house. If the situation hadn't been so desperate, she would have laughed and socked him in the arm. She squeezed his hand tightly hoping he had some kind of a plan. Suddenly, they heard a voice,
"Well if ain't Cowboy and Katherine. I don't think ya daddy would be happy to see you with him, Miss Pulitzer, now would he?" Jack pulls Katherine behind him. The Delanceys advance towards them and Jack puts his fists up. He whispers to her,
"Run, I'll take care o dese two." The boys get even closer and Jack cracks his knuckles preparing for a fight.
"Ya got guts, Kelly. Comin back like dis," says one of the Delanceys, "Ya even brought her wid ya. That wasn't part of the deal, Cowboy." She takes off and sees Morris start to chase her. Jack sticks out his leg and trips him. Oscar advances and Jack punches him square in the nose. Katherine hears Oscar yelp and she watches as Jack and Morris start to scuffle. She hopes Jack wins, but according to the Newsies, Jack can beat the Delanceys with his hands tied. Katherine runs for the fire escape and she can see Jack punching the lights out of Oscar again. She has never been one to appreciate violence, but she has to admit that watching her favorite Newsie do it without breaking a sweat, is amusing. She steps into the window of her father's office which is still open from when she left earlier. Hurrying over to the light switch, she flashes the lights at Jack to signal that she is safe. Once Jack notices, he waves at her and starts running down the street and the Delanceys weakly attempt to chase him. Katherine gives a silent cheer. She made it and Jack isn't going to die. He might even beat the Delanceys so hard that they won't remember that it was him who beat him. She is just watching out the window when suddenly the door to her father's study opens.
AN:/ Sorry, this is really short for me. I might post another chapter since this one is so short. I'm not sure yet though. Hopefully, I'll have a one shot up either today or tomorrow sometime. And I left you on a cliffhanger. Yep, you're welcome! Jack is a good fighter and I think the actual live performance sort of downplayed his ability to fight. He really can fight really well and for some reason, I love it when Jack wins fights. Besides, Jack could not get Katherine home without a hitch, it just wouldn't happen. And yours truly kinda wanted a fight scene where Jack kicks the Delanceys halfway to Queens. Get my reference? ;) I don't really have a logical explanation for the Delanceys being except that they were making sure Katherine didn't leave or something. You can use your imagination with that. Did you like this chapter since it is an added scene? I had fun writing this one! Please tell me what you think, I love to hear your thoughts! Also, what do you guys think of the Back to the Future story that I am going to be writing? I will try to have a part for that one up soon. I am sharing an OC with ChildCurly, we came up with that OC together. I am still open to suggestions on the oneshots if anybody has any brilliant ideas or OCs that they want to be a part of my book. Anyhoo, thanks for reading! I hope you enjoyed it! See you next week, friends!
