-Jake's Point of View-
'Beep, Beep, Beep'
My alarm clock kept going, getting louder and louder the longer I let it go. It finally get so unbearable I sat up rubbing my eyes and cracking my neck. I walk over to my dresser, Pulling out a pair of black and red Nike shorts. I take off my pajama pants, throwing them lazily onto my bed. I pick up my iPod as I walk to the door. As I walk past Taylor's door I hear soft music playing on repeat. She can't sleep unless she has music playing.
I smile and open the door walking out. And there they are. My smile instantly fades. Heather and Rachel stand waiting for me. Both wearing full sweatsuits that are alittle too tight. They both have brand new Adias running shoes that they bought when they found out I run every morning. Neither of them are active at all. Heather told me that she played volleyball for a week in 8th grade. Apparently it was too much work. They both have massive crushes on me. They had told me and Taylor both several times.
"Hey Jake!" Rachel says walking towards me.
"How's it going?" Heather says pushing in front of Rachel to get closer to me.
"Great, look I would love to talk, but I have to go before work."
"Do you have dinner plans tonight?" Heather asks twirling a strand of her hair. Recently they had both gotten their hair perm-ed to look like Taylor's even though they were both red heads and had thin hair. It looked nothing like Taylor's.
"I do actually, a meeting with a client." I say walking down the stairs hoping they wouldn't follow me.
"That's too bad, because I make really good pasta." She says from the top of the stairs as I put my headphones in.
It was sweet how hard they tried but also alittle sad. I would have given them a chance if I wasn't in love with someone else. Then I remembered I had kissed her.
I had kissed Taylor. I get out the door and turn on my running playlist. 'Pumped Up Kicks' starts and I take off at a steady jog.
Normally while I'm running I think about my cases and how I am planning to win them. Usually it's about a Josh case. He always has a new case I need to be thinking about. My newest case luckly doesn't involve Josh. And that is what I should really be thinking about. But the only thing that would come to my mind was Taylor. And our kiss.
What if she hadn't liked it? What if it was too soon? What if she was in love with someone else? What if she moved out? What if Carl tried to beat me up? If it was about Taylor I wouldn't fight him back, I would deserve it. I finally realize that I had run almost all the way past my normal distance. I keep going two more blocks then I turn around starting my playlist over again. I tell my self to think about something other than Taylor so I don't go crazy. I decide to work on my case.
AnnMarie was forced to go to the prom with her older brother's bestfriend, Mitchel who was 22. He came back for spring break and made AnnMarie go with him. Even though she already had a date. He then rented a hotel room and made her go with him. Her mom came into the office to see me and she explained everything because her daughter was still too shook up about the whole thing. Now they are sueing for sexual harassment and rape.
When I get back to my building there are Heather and Rachel.
"Oh Jake we must have run opposite ways.. We run too!" I smile at them and run up the stairs 2 at a time. I really should start wearing a shirt infront of them.
I get to my apartment opening the door and walking to the bathroom. I look in the mirror, running a hand through my hair. I sigh, I really need to get a hair cut. Mabe that's why Heather was following me around. I was starting to look like Justin Beiber. I take out my headphones and put them on the counter, turning on the water and getting in the shower.
The water turns into steam around me fogging up the glass doors. I get out after about 5 minutes. Drying my hair I walk over to my room. Taylor's music had stopped which meant one thing. She was awake.
I walked into my room, my heart racing. I opened the dresser and pulled out a pair of jeans and my 'Bazinga' shirt.
I put them on and take a deep breath walking out into the kitchen. I didn't see her, I calmly walk to the fridge opening the door and taking out the orange juice then I take out the strawberry poptarts from the cupboard next to it. I turn around and then I finally see her. She is sitting at the kitchen table, her knees pulled to her chest. In her hand is a tightly gripped coffee mug.
"Good morning." I say smiling as her and opening the box of Poptarts.
"Jake.. I have something I need to tell you." She says standing up slowly and putting the coffee on the table.
My jaw clenches, she was about to tell me she didn't have feelings for me. And that she was moving out. I overreact in my head, thoughts flying around. But I try to keep my face as calm as possible.
"Ok."
"I have feelings for you. I have for along time I just didn't know how to say it. And I'm sorry if that changes our friendship but I needed to say it.." She says blushing and her hands shake.
I almost drop my poptart as she says this.
"Don't be, I've been inlove with you since that first day at the bar."
"Really?" She asks stumbling and tearing up alittle. I put down the poptart and walk towards her. My legs pulling me closer even though I'm telling them to stop.
'Yes." I say standing in front of her, looking down into her big brown eyes.
She looks back up at me and wraps her arms around my neck, resting her chin on my shoulder. I wrap my arms around her waist and pull her close, smiling and kissing her cheek gently.
"I love you Jake." She whispers looking straight at me. Tears start to fall from her eyes down her face. I lift one hand, the other still wrapped around her waist securly and her waist, and wipe away the tears, softly.
I kiss her forehead and smile. Taylor Loyn loves me. She didn't care I was standing in a kitchen wearing a geeky shirt and tearing up. She loved me.
"And I love you."
